WILLIAMS, Mr. Larry "Skull" - Age 64, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Brian's House. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Larry “Skull” Williams was born May 29, 1947 in Jackson, MS, the son of Joe Nathan and Mary (Knott) Williams. Larry attended Lanier High School in Jackson, MS. He was a resident of Flint, Michigan since 1989 and was previously employed at Soroc Products in Burton, MI. Larry was an activist for the Civil Rights movement, where he marched with Dr. Martin Luther King and Medger Evers in the 1960s. He was a part of Black History, which allows us the life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that we enjoy today. Larry also had a passion for all sports, and was a dedicated follower of local sports teams of his nieces and nephews. He loved watching western movies and games shows. Larry also loved children and they loved him. Most Importantly, He confessed Christ as his personal Lord and Savior on August 7, 2011. Mr. Larry Williams leaves to cherish his memory: 2 sons, Melvin Owens of Jackson, MS and Larry Dykes of Detroit, MI; daughter, Bonnie (Charlie) Hill of Jackson, MS; 5 grandchildren, Jasmine, Jouslynn, and Contreal Owens of Jackson, MS, Laniya Edwards and Lundyn Woodard of Detroit, MI; 3 sisters, Bobby Sanders of Clio, MI, Mary Cole of Flint and Bonnie (Jeff) Grass of Mount Morris, MI; aunt, Lillie Thomas of Jackson, MS; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends including, Chester Henderson, Jerome “RedRock” Robinson and all his homeboys of Jackson, MS. Mr. Williams preceded in death by his parents, Joe Nathan and Mary (Knott) Williams; and brother, Joe Nathan Williams, Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Regional Medical Center, Brian’s House Hospice, Bishop Urundi Knox and Ebenezer Ministries, Rev. Kenneth L. Stewart and the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church and Glenda Stribling.
