Mr. LaFloyte Clark

CLARK, Mr. LaFloyte - Age 83, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Kith Haven Nursing Home. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, June 22, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Thursday. Mr. Clark will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Wednesday, with the family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. Lafloyte Clark was born January 7, 1934 in Ackerman, Mississippi, the son of Fred and Willie Mae Clark. He the first born of 11 siblings. Lafloyte united with his parents and other siblings with the Big Jerusalem Baptist Church. Here he had a strong childhood Christian experience in the church and in his home. He attended school in Choctaw County, MS and was a graduate of Choctaw County High School. After graduation he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged. After the Army he then married and moved to Michigan where he raised a family and worked for General Motors Corporation, Genesee Bank and had business ventures of his own. His strong mechanical mind served him well and hopefully is passed on to his descendants. There will be lasting memories shared by eight children and one step-son. Mr. Lafloyte Clark leaves to cherish: Lafaylapa Clark of San Diego, CA, Carmala (John) Wilson of Columbus, OH, Sherry (Johnnie) Taylor, Libby (Leon) Bell, Johnathan Clark, and their mother, Norma Clark, all of Flint, LaSheila (Fred) Thomas of Aubrey, TX, Whitney (Dequan) Hodge of Frisco, TX, Tonte (Aisha) Pouncil of Cross Roads, TX, Britney Clarke, and their mother, Sheila Clarke of Flint; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 9 brothers and sisters, Rogis (Claretta) Clark of Lake Charles, LA, Howard (Joyce) Clark, Gloria (James) Tyler of Modesto, CA, Wynis Shaw of Clarksdale, MS, Lynis Foster of Ackerman, MS, Levester (Mae) Clark Dallas, TX, Billy (Joyce) Clark, Joyce (Charles) Scott of Jackson, MS and Fred (Margeret) Clark of Greenwood, MS; 2 sisters-in-law, Thelma Clark of California and Jerlyn Clark of Texas; aunt, Retha Gamble of Ackerman, MS; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special longtime friends for over 50 years, William & Lutrell Witherspoon and family. Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his son, Stacy Clark; parents, Fred and Willie Mae Clark; grandparents; and brother, James Clark.
