LEWIS, Mr. L.C. Jr. - Age 73, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, September 12, 2020 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral services commencing at 2:00 PM Elder Richard Herbert officiating. Interment 9:30 AM Monday, September 14, 2020 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-420 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Mr. Lewis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mr. L.C. Lewis Jr. was born September 5, 1947 in Caruthersville, Missouri, the son of L.C. Sr. and Mary Lewis. Mr. Lewis graduated from Caruthersville High School, “Class of 1966” where he excelled in football and track. In 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army where he completed two tours in Vietnam. Mr. Lewis later moved to Flint, Michigan where he met and married his wife, Valorie Hoey and shared 45 loving years of marriage. In 2007, Mr. Lewis retired from Buick Motor Company, a division of General Motors Corporation. He enjoyed music, loved to sing, cook, fish and hunt. Mr. Lewis also loved to watch sports, and play pool with family and friends. He was also an avid story teller! Mr. L.C. Lewis Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Valorie Lewis; 4 daughters and 3 sons, Mary (Kevin) Jones, Robert Coleman, Anthony (LeTia) Lewis, Angela (Richard) Herbert, Andrew Lewis all of Flint, Andrea (Skyelar) Nelson of Charlotte, NC, and Anikko Lewis (fiancé, Jermaine Armstrong) of Denver, CO; 12 grandchildren, Angel Coleman, Keayanna Jones, Kevin Jones Jr., RaShawnda Lewis, William Jones Jr., Elijah Nelson, Alaisysha Jones, Anthony Lewis Jr., Ameir Lewis and Lauryn Lewis; 9 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters, Rosie (Robert) Walker, Geneva Cleaves, Inetta Tillman, Laura (Aubrey) Carter, Bessie (Wesley) Bickley, Marilyn (Cornell) Callaway and step-sister, Joann Robinson; 2 brothers, Jackie (Ingrid) Lewis and step-brother, David (Shantell) Rowsey; aunts, Marguerite Collins, Christine Moody, Lula Reed and Bearnice Reed; a host of nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his father, L.C. Lewis Sr.; mother, Mary Hicks; brothers, Larry and James Lewis; sister, Beatrice and Catherine Lewis.
