BOYKINS, Rev. Kenneth Elbert- Age 76, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at A Haven of Rest, Owosso, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, June 6, 2025, at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, G-5283 Clio Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Rev. Boykins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday, June 5, 2025. Rev Kenneth Elbert Boykins was born on May 8, 1948, in Flint, Michigan at St. Joseph Hospital. Rev. Boykins was the son of Deacon Ezekiel & Sister Beatrice Boykins. He accepted Christ at an early age and baptized at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. L. W. Pryor. Rev Boykins graduated from Flint Northern in 1966. He attended University of Michigan-Flint and he took some classes at Spring Arbor College. Rev. Boykins worked a former employee Citizens Bank for over 30 years as a Vice President of Community Affairs. He later retired and continued to be active in many different programs in the city of Flint such as being a mentor for the Big Brother-Big Sister, 100 Men and 100 Boys Programs, and the Flint School District. He taught classes in Great Lakes Baptist District Association. Rev Boykins was an avid gardener and organized the Dime Missionary Baptist Church in June of 1999. He continued to be the Pastor at the Dime Missionary Baptist Church for over 25 years. Rev Kenneth Elbert Boykins leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife of almost 52 years, Arlene Boykins of Mount Morris, MI; son, Derrick (Amanda) Boykins of Mineola, TX; daughter, Kendra A. Boykins of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Taylor Miller of Davison, MI, John Miller of Mount Morris, MI, Kenneth A. Boykins and Kevaugh H. Boykins, of Aurora, CO, Derrick Boykins Jr., Aaliyah (Michael) Herrada, Darion, Jeremiah, and Jeremiah Boykins of Mineola, Texas; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Lona) Boykins; sister, Peggy Ann (Stanley) Person; and host of friends including special friends, Dr. and Mrs. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. McGhee and Mr. Freddie Howard; special god-son, David McGhee; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family. Rev Kenneth Boykins was preceded in death by his daughter, Tamara Boykins; grandsons, Derrick Arkenta Boykins and Quadarius Miller; parents, Beatrice & Deacon Ezekiel Boykins.
