Mrs. Katie Mae Pickett

PICKETT, Mrs. Katie Mae - Age 102, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 at her residence. Mrs Pickett will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Friday, September 25, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Graveside Service 1:00 PM Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Katie Mae (Lanier) Pickett was born May 19, 1918 in Columbus, MS. to Gilbert and Mattie Lanier. Katie relocated to Flint MI in 1937 and shortly after she met her late husband, Lloyd H. Pickett of 60 years and to that union 6 children were born. Katie passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family like she had always prayed for. Katie graduated from Union Academy High School in Columbus, MS. After raising her children, Katie went on to work for the Board of Education Enrichment Program. Additionally, she was a chartered board member of the Dort Oak Park Neighborhood House. Katie gave her life to God at an early age and has never ceased to serve Him. She was a faithful member of Canaan Baptist Church for 83 years and served in many ministries within the church. Katie enjoyed serving the Lord, attending church on Sundays, attending Sunday school and Wednesday morning Bible Study until her health would no longer allow her to do so. She also enjoyed spending time with family, telling everybody about the goodness of The Lord, sharing her loving heart and spirit, cooking and eating her sweets. She loved travelling on road trips or via airplane, looking sharp, going to the casino and playing cards with family. She leaves to cherish her memory: 4 Daughters; Vernecia Spivey, Katherine Pickett and Linda Mance all of Flint, MI and Tauheedah Dixon of El Sobrante, CA. 1 son; Kenneth Pickett of Wapakoneta, OH 5 grandchildren; Terrence Mance (Fiancé Tyina Scales) of Flint, MI; Carl M. II (Erin) Pickett of Scottsdale, AZ; Dr. Mahasin Mujahid (Raymond Fleming) of El Sobrante, CA; Stacy (Daron) Orange of Austin, TX and Katrina Pickett of Fort Meyers, FL. 11 great- grandchildren; De’Andre and Tavares Mance of Flint MI; Arayah, Maya and Jackson Fleming all of El Sobrante CA; Gabriel, Luca and Victoria Rust all of Fort Meyers, FL; Saiyan and Sierra Pickett both of Scottsdale, AZ and Riley Dolphin of Des Moines, IA. Special cousin/daughter Sharon (Joe) Guyton and Guyton family of Columbia, MD; Special cousins Norma Jean Peques and Dorian Davis of Flint, MI, and Son-N-Love Daniel (Denise) Mujahid of Ann Arbor, MI.; The Pickett family, Canaan Baptist Church family and a host of many relatives and friends who loved her dearly. Katie Pickett was proceeded in death by her parents Gilbert and Mattie Lanier, Husband Lloyd H. Pickett and son Carl M. Pickett.
