Mr. Josiah Curry

CURRY, Mr. Josiah - Age 72, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, October 12, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with Memorial service commencing at 2:00 PM, Minister Joseph Gaines, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the Funeral Home 1:30 PM Saturday. There will be no public viewing. Mr. Josiah “Joe” Curry, age 72 of Flushing, Michigan answered the call of God on Sunday, October 6, 2024. He was born March 19, 1952 in Flint Michigan, the son of Rev. Dr. J.C. Curry and Martha Ann Grace-Curry. Joe accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a lifelong member until his death. He was a 1970 graduate of Flint Central High School and a 1974 graduate of Western Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a successful engineer with General Motors AC Spark Plug/Delphi before retiring after 25 years of dedicated service. In retirement he started his second act as a builder and contractor. He was a principal partner in Urban Builders and he and his father founded Curry Haven Homes. Together they built a small community of town homes and single family structures occupied mostly by family. It is lovingly known as "The Curry Compound.” Josiah was a family man. He was an honorable son, a loving husband, exceptional father, (the original girl dad), an attentive brother to three sisters, and an amazing grandfather, uncle, friend and mentor to many. He loved to travel and often did so with family. He loved a good meal, especially a fine steak. He was the family patriarch; our hero. Our pillar of strength. Josiah was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Dr. JC and Martha Ann Curry; sisters: Patricia Ann Curry Moore, Lou Ella Curry, and Ondria Oree Curry Jackson; and granddaughter Asprea Savon Grifﬁn.
