JACKSON, Mr. Joseph - Age 75, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at Fostrian Manor in Flushing, MI. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, July 1, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Saturday. Mr. Jackson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday. Mr. Joseph Hermon Jackson was born November 13, 1941 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the son of the late Jasper (Morell) Irby and Murray Jackson. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Jerlyn Stephens on June 13, 1978 in Flint, Michigan. Joseph graduated from Flint Northern High School. He was employed at Fisher Body Grand Blanc, a division of General Motors and was a member of UAW Local #1292 for 36 1/2 years. Joseph loved all sports and also loved to fish. Mr. Joseph Hermon Jackson leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife of 39 years, Jerlyn Jackson of Flint; daughter, Sibyl (Johnnie) McQuiter of Detroit, MI; son, Winston (Linda) Stephens of Flint; 8 grandchildren, Laila McQuiter of Detroit, MI, Cierra Stephens of Flint, Brandon Stephens of Arlington, TX, Tashia Boaz, James Boaz Jr., Tacee Boaz, Demetrius Allen and De’Quan Byron Turner, all of Flint; 5 great-grandchildren, Brandon Stephens, Tyquasha, Jakiya and Keasia Boaz, and Braiden Stephens; 2 sisters, Mary (Jackson) Black and Katie (Alvin) Demery; brother, Jasper (Nancy) Irby Jr.; 4 sisters-in-law, Georgia (Jerry) Jackson, Addie Stephens, Clarice and Clarencetta Stephens; 5 brothers-in-law, Earl, James (Gail), Paul (Viola), Sam and Martin (Angela) Stephens; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by daughter, Kim A. Jackson; son, Joseph Hermon Jackson Jr.; parents, Jasper (Morell) Irby and Murray Jackson; grandparents, Joseph and Elizabeth McAfee; sister, Winfred Baxter; and brother, Elvin Irby Sr..
