COLEMAN, Mr. Johnnie - Age 68, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, 2220 W. Coldwater Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Floyd Fuller officiating, Pastor Seldon J. William, Jr., Host Pastor. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Coleman will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. There will be no public viewing. Mr. Johnnie W. Coleman was born December 20, 1942 to Jimmy and Aatrica Coleman in Macon, Mississippi. Mr. Coleman accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age under, Pastor C.L. Collins at New Ena Baptist Church in Itta Bena, MS. He served faithfully until the age of 26. While he resided in Flint, he served under, Pastor Eugene Simpson at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. Later he joined Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. John E. Coleman. Mr. Coleman leaves to cherish his memories: 4 daughters, Jannice Carter of Flint, Valerie (Michael) Branch of Murfreesboro, TN, Bonita White of Chicago, IL and Cynthia McGee of Seattle, WA; 3 sons, Will (Joslyn) Coleman, Christian Carter, all of Flint and Alvin (Tasha) White of Chicago, IL; 19 grandchildren, Kamoshe Branch, Tiera (Calvin) Pendleton-Boyd and Ka’Tisha (DeCorey) Pendleton-Mitchell, Kennedy Coleman, King Will Coleman, Natisha Coleman, Christian Carter, Zamarrion Carter, Kenshae Claire, Kyara Claire, Deona Strokes, Nakia Meeks, Tashain Meeks, KaTrina White, Michael Johnson, Ladarius Johnson, Latricia Johnson, Montez McGee and Michelle McGee; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 9 sisters, Dorothy (James) Proctor of Flint, Catherine (Robert) Outlaw, Bessie Scott, all of Elgin, IL, Minnie McCoy of Macon, MS, Ruthie Jackson of Milwaukee, WI, Sallie Bonner, Catherine Binion, both of Carrolton, AL, Mary Thompson of Hartford, CT and Elizabetha Bond of Columbus, MS; 5 brothers, Rev. John E. (Virginia) Coleman of Flint, Rev. Joel (Gwen) Binion of Greenwood, MS, Billy (Juanita) Binion of Elgin, IL, John (Sarha) Binion of Macon, MS and Willie (Sarha) Binion of Hartford, CT; a host of niece, nephews and other relatives and friends including, James Harris-Redman, Glen Stewart, George Burns, Linnon Wilson, Raymond and Frank Harris. Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his late beloved wife, Mary Ethel Carter-Coleman; parents, Jimmy and Aatrice Coleman; brothers, Jimmy Coleman, Jr., Bobby Lee Binion and Willie James Binion; sister, Irene King; aunt, Mary Catherine Binion; uncle, Dan Binion; and sister-in-law, Bobbie Jean Coleman. The family would like to express special thanks of the heart to Lisa King for being by Johnnie’s side during his illness and to his niece, Lavinia “Sargent” Hall.
