Mrs. Joan Winkfield

WINKFIELD, Mrs. Joan - Age 78, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, December 29, 2023, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 West Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Highway., Flint, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home 10:30 AM Friday, December 29, 2023. Mrs. Winkfield will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday, December 28, 2023. Ms. Joan “Judy” Winkfield was born May 22, 1945 in Madison, Illinois, the daughter of Emory Felix Winkfield and Osceola (Bishop) Winkfield Hall. She resided in Flint, Michigan. Joan attended Madison Senior High School in Madison, Illinois, and graduated from Flint Central High School in Flint, Michigan in 1965. Joan was a licensed foster care parent for 32 years, and was a dedicated parent, and an ever-present volunteer worker for Flint Community Schools. Over the years school administrators recognized her creativity and active participation in activities, and school programs such as the Follow Through program and the Cooperative Extension program. Joan received many certificates of completion and recognition awards for years of service as an active parent in the Flint Community Schools. Joan attended New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan. She relied upon her faith in God, and relied upon the saving grace of Christ Jesus. Ms. Joan Winkfield leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Clarence Eugene Martin Winkfield of Flint, and Marcus Allen Luscious Winkfield of Washington, DC; two daughters, Julie Ann Winkfield of Flint and Stacie Jeanine (Winkfield) Croffe of Grand Blanc, MI. She leaves two grandsons, Henry Julian Flowers and Jalen Dion Winkfield, both of Flint; and three granddaughters, Geilah Ruthie Amara Winkfield, Bella Guliana Marie Winkfield, and Guliana Elizabeth Marie Winkfield, all of Grand Blanc. Ms. Joan Winkfield also leaves behind two sisters, Lillian Elizabeth (Winkfield) Spears of Flint, MI, and Rosemary (Winkfield) Moore of Ontario, CA; and brother, Gary Louis Winkfield of Victorville, CA. Ms. Winkfield is preceded in death by her parents, Emory Felix Winkfield and Osceola (Bishop) Winkfield Hall; brothers, John Winkfield and Emory Eugene Winkfield; and sister, Carolyn Winkfield.
