FRIEND, Mr. Jimmie Lee - Age 97, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 317 E. Hamilton Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Allen Overton Sr. officiating. Interment, Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church at 10:30 AM Wednesday. Mr. Friend will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral and may be viewed from 12:00PM-6:00PM Tuesday with family present from 4:00PM-6:00PM. Mr. Jimmie Lee Friend was born January 29, 1928 in Raleigh (Memphis), Tennessee, the son of George and Ellen Friend. He spent his formative years in the North Memphis area, where he began his working life as a laborer at the Memphis Hardwood Flooring Company. It was in these early years that he laid the foundation for a life defined by hard work, quiet strength, and deep devotion to his family and faith. 1946, Jimmie married the love of his life, Annie Mae (Williamson) Friend. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with 4 children. In pursuit of greater opportunities, the family later relocated to Flint, Michigan, where Jimmie continued his dedicate work ethic as an assembler at Flint Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors Corporation. He proudly served as a member of UAW Local #598 until his retirement. Jimmie was a devoted and faithful member of Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, where he served with humility and honor as a Trustee for many years. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, evident in his every action and interaction. A passionate sports enthusiast, Jimmie enjoyed cheering for Detroit’s beloved teams. He also took pride in maintaining a pristine lawn and garden, a reflection of his quiet attention to detail and care. Known for his sharp sense of style, he found joy in shopping for elegant suits and always carried himself with grace and dignity. Though soft-spoken and a man of few words, Jimmie’s presence was deeply felt by all who knew him. His legacy of love, faith and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community. Jimmie Lee Friend was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. His life was a testament to integrity, humility and unwavering devotion. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Mr. Jimmie Lee Friend leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Carolin Kay (Edward) Brown; son, Jerome Dwight Friend; grandchildren, Yolanda Robinson of Flint, Danielle Jacobs of Valley, AZ, Latisha (Oliver) Dorsey of Buford, GA, Crystal (Eric) Johnston of South Haven, MS, Angela (Omer) Friend, Kandace Friend of Los Angeles, CA, Joerelle (Kieona) Mosley, Jamia Friend and Jimmie Friend, all of Flint, Tiffany Friend of Ohio; great-grandchildren, Tatyonka Robinson, Reagan, Abigail Johnston, Naija Friend, Addison, Adrienne Lue, Jasmine and Olivia; special nieces and nephews, Charlotte, Norma Jean and Leonard; cousin, James Branch; a host of other relatives and friends including, Brother Paul Lewis, Sister Chenita Holley, Mother Gloria Jenkins, Reverend Allen C. Overton Sr. and the Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church family. Mr. Friend was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Friend; sons, Jimmie and Joseph Oliver Friend; parents, George and Ellen Friend; and sister, Hattie Lee Mayburn.
