Mr. Jerry Lee Hunter Sr.

HUNTER, Mr. Jerry Lee Sr. - age 52, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, 5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Hunter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday. Mr. Jerry Lee Hunter, Sr. was born October 18, 1961 in Greenville, Mississippi, the son of Juanita Morris and Promus Wells. He was a resident of Flint, Michigan for 41 years. Jerry accepted Christ into his life at 11 years old. He joined New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church in 1974 and began working at the church in his early teens. Jerry became close to Pastor and Sister Floyd; who he was like a son. He was always dedicated to the church. Jerry graduated from Beecher High School “Class of 1974.” He worked several jobs until he found his calling as a Certified Nurse’s Aide, a job he was born to do. Jerry worked as a CAN until he became disabled. He was a very giving person who would do anything for everyone. You could always count on him. Mr. Jerry Lee Hunter, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Katish (Derrick) Mosley of Canton, MI; son, Jerry (Jessica) Hunter, Jr. of Ypsilanti, MI; grandchildren, Jerry Hunter III, Audriena Hunter, Aleeyah Hunter, Arrianti “Cupcake” Mosley-Watkins, Derrick Watkins, Derek Mitter, Kobe Watkins and A-Marie Mosley; step-father, Edward L. Gibbs of Tiplersville, MS; 7 sisters, Mari (Joe) White, Rita (Roy) Williams, Viola (Jonathan) Hunter, all of Flint, Catina Hunter of St. Louis, MO, Mary Arthur, Margie Polk and Teresa Howell; 7 brothers, Charles Hunter, Promus Hunter, Andre (Dorothy) Hunter, all of Flint, Oliver (Brenda) Hunter of Ripley, MS, Anderson Bell of Leomister, MA and Phillips Gibbs of Tiplersville, MS; 6 nieces, Kenyetta Hunter, Nakia Osborne, Danielle Cox, Brianna Johnson, Malaysia Hunter and Lindsey Harrington; 4 nephews, Joe White, Jr., Montez White, Tavon Hunter and Malachi Bell; aunts, Lillie Stapleton of Tiplersville, MS, 3 aunts in Greenville, MS and 1 aunt in Tennessee; 5 uncles in Greenville, MS; 3 brothers-in-law, Joe White, Sr., Roy Williams and Jonathan Wagner; god-brothers, Ken Collier and Michael Owens; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, ex-wife, Teresa Hunter, Cynthia Bryant and Charles Mosley.
