THORNTON, Mrs. Janice - Age 56, passed away Friday, October 15, 2010 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Thornton will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Janice E. Thornton was born August 24, 1954 in Waycross, Georgia, the daughter of Tommie Price, Sr., and Arthur Mae James. Mrs. Thornton was a resident of Mt. Morris, Michigan. She received her certificate in Community Mental Health at Zimmerman Center, and then furthered her education at Mott Community College for Child Development. Mrs. Thornton enjoyed her children family and friends. She was employed at Fashion Bug as a manager for several years, as well as being a homemaker. Mrs. Thornton was very caring and loving person, who would give her last to anyone. She loved to joke around, travel, shop and live life to the fullest. Mrs. Janice E. Thornton leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Randy Thornton; 2 daughters, Desi (Roscoe) Benton and Janis (Daimeion) King; 2 sons, LaRon (Shantel) Thornton and Shujaa “Scooby” Watson; stepson, Raphael Robinson; 28 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Arthur Mae James; 6 sisters, Gwen (John) Phinesee, Freda and Patricia Wise, all of Flint, Barbara (Edward) Brown and Peggy Monroe; 3 brothers, Ronnie and Godfrey Wise and Tommie Price, Jr.; 2 sisters-in-law, Felicia and Vanessa Thornton; 2 brothers-in-law, James (Maxine) Thornton and Philip Thornton; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Mark Schrieber, Yalonda Ivory and Tomica Doxie. Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her 2 sons, James Price, Sr., and Randy M. Price-Thornton; 2 grandson, James Price, Jr. and Randy M. Price Jr.; father, Tommie Price, Sr.; stepmother, Helen Price; sister, Helen Price; brother, Jimmy Monroe; and mother-in-law, Manerva Thornton; and father-in-law. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Genesys Health Park Neurotrauma ICU and Medical ICU 3rd and 4th floors.
