Mrs. Janice Gilbert

GILBERT, Mrs. Janice - Age 57, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, March 23, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Min. James Williams, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Gilbert will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mrs. Janice Marie Gilbert was born August 23, 1966 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of D’Archie Lee Haltiwanger and Pearley Mae Ellison. Janice was a resident of Flint, Michigan and employed at New Standard Academy. Her hobbies included, playing cards and Bingo. Janice loved to cook, she had the best tacos, fried the best fish and pork chops. She has always cared for children and loved caring for her grandchildren. Janice had a good heart even though she had no filter and told you like it was. She loved hanging with her card circles and hanging with her Boogie Down Motorcycle Club. Mrs. Janice Marie Gilbert leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, ShaRonda (Brysyn) Biggs; son, Paul Q. Ellison; grandchildren, Quinaiya Ellison, Kimya Ellison, Aziya Ellison, Quinn Ellison, Richard Norris, Jaylen Davis, Nasir Owens, Nasiya Owens, Rodney Harden Jr., Christien Scales and Taniyah Slaughter; grandmother, Iola Ellison; sisters, Vicky Ellison, Marzella Williams, Alverine Simpson, all of Flint, Deronda (Danny) Massey, Audrey (Micheal) Sykes, Yolanda Pitts, Kim, Kristy, Kelli, Kay and Karla; brothers, Floyd Williams, Kurtis Williams, Walter (Nicole) Ellison, Rodney (Erika) Billups Compton Sr., Barry Strickland, Kevin, Kenny and Kyle; nieces, Tanya Williams, Tamika Williams, Latwanna Simpson and Asheana Williams; nephews, Minister James (Elder Yolanda) Williams, Deshannon Ellison, Malik Ellison, Makhi Ellison, Fredrick Simpson and Demario Simpson; aunts, Cotie Litzsey and Dorothy Staudamire; uncle, Ray Lee Haltiwanger; sister-in-law, Valinda (Alton) Brandon and Latoya (Thomas) Person; god-daughters, Shasta Cayton, Ieasha Haley, Ashley Rutherford, Chelsey Chew and Baby Emery Rosborough; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Vickie Washington, Jaquonda Brown, Faye, Lisa, April, Angela, Marvin L. Gilbert, Carl Walker, MaRuan Taylor and Marcus Carrington. Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her son, Albert Green; grandchildren, Quinton and Quincy Ellison; mother, Pearley Mae Ellison; father, D.Archie Lee Haltiwanger; grandfather, Herman “Pimp” Ellison; sister, Marsha York; and aunt, Artie Lee “Kitty” Haltiwanger.
