Mr. James E. Wintersmith Jr.

WINTERSMITH JR., Mr. James E. - Age 69, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2109 M. L. King Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Rodney Ellison officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Wintersmith will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Mr. James E. Wintersmith, Jr. was born April 10, 1946 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the son of James E. Wintersmith, Sr. and Anna Bell Jackson. He was a resident of Davison, MI. James was affiliated with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and was a former member of Victorious Believers Church Of God In Christ in Saginaw, MI, where he served on the Deacon Board. He was baptized at an early age in Lake Charles, LA. James attended McNeese State College in Louisiana, Detroit College of Business-Flint and United Theological Institute of Flint, MI. He was a retiree of General Motors Corporation. James loved reading, football and communicating with the family. He also loved all of his family members dearly. Mr. James E. Wintersmith, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Jacquelyn Wintersmith; 2 daughters, Cheryl Wintersmith and Angela Clark; 2 sons, Parrish Wintersmith and Antonio Stewart; 4 step-children, Latunya (Demillios) Rutherford, Tasha (Marcus) Wynne, Katrina (Ronnie) Royster and Tameka Chatman; 18 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Avonnette Mouton; 2 nieces, Arlene Ceasar and Anjanett Mouton; nephew, Virgil Mouton; a host of cousins including special cousins, Ruby Bigelow, Alice Faye, Joella and Keith; mother-in-law, Ruthie Chatman; 6 sisters-in-law, Minnie (Robert) Harris, Olivia Shelton, Carolyn Sanders, Shirley (Roy) Hayes, Kathleen (Horace) Sturdivant and Tawanda (Creon) Mattison; 3 brothers-in-law, Larry Chatman, James Chatman and Lee O. Sanders; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Walter James and Wilbert Jarrett. Mr. Wintersmith was preceded in death by his parents, James E. Wintersmith, Sr. and Anna Belle Jackson; and brother, Barry Wintersmith. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center, Dr. Zaki and for the special acts of kindness expressed to the family during their hours of bereavement.
