WILLIAMS, Deacon James, Jr. - Age 88, passed away Monday, May 24, 2021 at Willow Brook Manor. Family hour 12:00PM Thursday, June 3, 2021 from Harris Memorial COGIC, 4317 Lippincott Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 12:30PM Pastor Eric C. Bogan, officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:00 PM Thursday. Mr. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00PM-6:00PM Wednesday with family present from 5:00PM-6:00PM. Deacon James Williams Jr. “Paw Paw” was born June 6, 1932 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the son of James Sr. and Candis Williams. James was a resident of Flint, Michigan since the mid 1950’s. He was a faithful member of Harris Memorial Church Of God In Christ where he served on the Deacon Board, Men’s Ministry and Sunday School Department. James received his high school education in the Public School System of Rison, AR. He married Mildred Henry of Pine Bluff on October 28, 1952 and later migrated to Flint. James was employed at General Motors Corporation where he retired after 34 years of service as a Machine Operator. He loved his family, church and studying the Bible. James also loved playing Checkers and Dominos. He had a great sense of humor. James would always say, “Everybody loves Paw Paw.” Deacon James Williams Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Vivian Lowe of Burton, MI; 2 sons, Elder Anthony (Denise) Williams of Grand Blanc, MI and James Wallace Williams of St. Louis, MO; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Marie Sprinkle-Coleman, Christine Hawkins and Mattie Johnson; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Deacon Williams was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Williams; son, Alfred Williams; parents, James Sr. and Mother Candis (Richardson) Williams; 3 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; 2 aunts; 1 uncle; mother and father-in-law, I.H. and Inez henry. The family would like to express special thanks to Willowbrook Manor, Hospice Medical Team, Dr. Peddireddy; god-daughter, Dazarine Taylor, Pastor Eric C. and Lady Karleen Bogan, Harris Memorial Church Of God In Christ family and caregivers, Linda Gardner and Gerald Jenkins.
