Mr. James T. Thompson

THOMPSON, Mr. James T. - age 75, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at New Beginnings Ministries, 5227 Beecher Rd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Clarence Lewis officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Thompson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. James T. Thompson went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. James was born on October 17, 1938 in Jackson, Mississippi, to John Lee and Alice Thompson. He moved with his family from Jackson to Chicago, Illinois. James served honorably in the United States Navy as a cook. He relocated to Flint, Michigan and was employed by General Motors. He retired in 1994 from the City of Flint and Bishop Airport after more than 25 years of service. James was an avid golfer and bowler, but most of all he loved helping people. He always kept a smile on his face and a kind word to others. He was also a joker which would bring laughter to a room. He also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Mr. James T. Thompson leaves to cherish his memories: wife and love of his life for 45 years, Margo; his only child and love, Lisa Thompson-Morris of Ann Arbor, MI; 5 grandchildren who lit up his life, Watdell Bradford III of Cleveland, OH, Darryl Morris Jr., of Atlanta, GA, Brandon, DeLisia and Dejanae Morris, all of Ann Arbor, MI; mother, Alice Thompson of Berkeley, Il; 2 sisters, Rosie Jenkins of Bellwood, IL and Doretha (Elisha) Graham of Berkeley, IL; 6 brothers, Leo, Charles (Linda), Melvin (Jean), Bob (Karolee), Jerone (Shelia) all of Chicago, IL and M.C. of Atlanta, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren other relatives and friends. Mr. James T. Thompson was preceded in death by his father, John Lee Thompson and brother, Leon Thompson. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Tommy Stevens, the 5th floor Neuro Trauma ICU Staff, doctors and nurses; the New Beginnings Church Family and all of our compassionate and kind neighbors.
