JACKSON, Mr. James Curtis - Age 63, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Monday, August 19, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Bishop Lessie Jackson, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:30 AM Monday. Mr. Jackson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday. Mr. James Curtis Jackson was born December 18, 1960 in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Overson and Mildred Jackson. James family moved to Flint, Michigan in 1967 where he attended Jefferson Elementary, Bryant Middle School and Northwestern High School (you should’ve been a Wildcat). After graduating from N-DUB, James enlisted in the United States Army, serving our country and was Honorably Discharged. In 1982, he began working for Flint Coating until its closing in 2000. James then began working for Antolin Manufacturing until his retirement in 2022. He met Lessie in 1983 and they were united in Holy Matrimony on December 23, 2004. James was a dedicated, active and faithful member of Grace of God Ministries. He was a hardworking, caring, dedicated, kind father, husband brother, friend and Jokester. James loved singing his Luther Vandross to wife, fishing and spending time with his family. He always looked forward to the holidays because he knew family and friends were coming by, even if it was just to get a plate and he was always praising and thanking God for allowing them that time together. James kept it real with whomever he came in contact with. Mr. James Curtis Jackson leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Lessie Jackson; 4 sons, James Hillard, Deion (Cormelia) Jackson, Chino (son/nephew) Cooper, all of Flint and Carl (Jane) Davis of No. Baltimore, OH; 2 daughters, Susie (Leonard) Thomas-Sparks and Regina (Micah) Badon, all of Flint; 3 brothers, Estes Jackson, Overson Jackson III and Michael Jackson, all of Flint; 6 sisters, Y’vonne Jackson of Phonix City, AL, Ruthie Jackson, Katelynn Williams, Sherry (Jackson) Cooper, Kristine Jackson and Torrie Psalms, all of Flint; uncles, Larry Hubbard of New Zealand, Keith Hubbard, Edward Hubbard, both of Columbus, GA and Jimmy Byrd of Milledgeville, GA; aunts, Carolyn Hubbard of Columbus, GA, Dora Byrd, Jacqueline (Willie) Lester of Millegeville, GA and Elvira Byrd of Flint; 21 grandchildren; a plethora great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Mike Robinson and Willie Trice Jr. Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, Overson and Mildred Jackson; grandparents, Elvira Byrd, Ruth Hubbard, Bill Harris and Nettie Harris; father and mother-in-law, Otha and Cora Davis; uncles, E.J. Coleman and Carl Hubbard; aunts, Mary “Faye” Byrd and Nettie Williams (Aunt Pie/Cake); brothers-in-law, Willie Davis and Herbert Almo; sister-in-law, Mary Ola Fleming; cousin, Carla “Peachie” Williams; nephews, Marqwone “Boo Man” Jackson and Dequan Baker; granddaughters, Zen’daya Dionna “Papoose” Johnson and Leslie Webster.
