Mr. James Elbert Beasley

BEASLEY, Mr. James - Age 62, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 at Greater Galilee Baptist Church, 4418 Industrial Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Min. Andre Williams, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Monday. Mr. Beasley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. James Elbert Beasley was born on September 7, 1953 in Secretary, Maryland, to the late Silas Elbert and Mattie Jean Beasley. James was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army and was employed at the VA Hospital after returning from the Vietnam War. Mr. Beasley served in the Vietnam War for 2 years and then went into the Reserve. James decorations and medals include: National Defense Service Medal, Marksman M16, and Expert 45. On August 21, 2010, James married his bride Zendelyn (McDaniel) Beasley. They enjoyed traveling together and visiting with family. James’ hobbies included fishing on his dock, disc jockeying, and loved working on the Security Ministry at his church. James loved his grandchildren and loved to spend time with his family in Maryland, Virginia and Georgia. When Mr. Beasley wasn't with his wife and family he was working in his yard. Mr. James Elbert Beasley leaves in God's care: his wife, Zendelyn McDaniel-Beasley of Flint; 3 daughters, Jemeka Cole of Richmond, VA, Zykia McDaniel and Tacoma McDaniel, both of Flint; 5 sons, Lamont Williams of Hurlock, MD, Silas (Mary) Jones of Richmond, VA, Rafeal, Delonie, and Andrew McDaniel, all of Flint; 15 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Annie Fries of Richmond, VA, Francene Taylor of Adelanto, CA; 4 brothers, Hubert Elbert of Hinesville, GA, Jonathan Elbert of Richmond, VA, Frankie Hobbs of Hurlock, MD, and Jimmy Hobbs of North Carolina; special cousin, Brenda (Duke) Hunter; sister-in-law, Shenita Hill of Ypsilanti, MI; 3 brothers in-law, Stevie (Vada), Richard and Isaac Hill, all of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including best friends, Billie Jones, David and Tim Benton. Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Elbert and Mattie Jean Beasley; and brother, Joe Elbert. The family extends considerable gratitude to the staff and doctors of McLaren Regional Medical Center, McLaren Hospice, Russel Franklin, Stevie Hill and the nurse’s aides. The family thanks everyone for the fervent prayers and heartfelt generosity and support, Minister Andre Williams, Tracy Williams and the Greater Galilee Baptist Church family, St Paul's Episcopal Church, and Pastor Frederick L. Flowers and Promise Tabernacle families. You cannot possibly know just how much your support our family, our many friends, our church families - have meant to us in this most difficult time. We thank you for your visits, your calls, the food, being there for us, the countless acts of kindness, the gorgeous floral expressions, your presence today, and the abundance of prayer which has sustained and ministered to us.
