Mrs. Irna M. Prince

PRINCE, Mrs. Irna - Age 84, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Christ The Rock Apostolic Church 1102 W. Hemphill Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Elder Wilbert Reed, Jr., officiating. Interment Covert Cemetery Highway 140 E. Cemetery St., Covert, MI 49043. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Prince will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Irna Mae (Armstrong) Prince was born December 2, 1931 in Como, Mississippi, the daughter of Moses and Betty (Robinson) Armstrong. She married the love of her life, Roy Gilbert Prince, February 18, 1954. To this union, seven children were born. Irna loved her children dearly and supported them in every way, especially after the passing of her husband. She was employed at Martin Luther Nursing Home in South Haven, MI, as a CNA for over 30 years. Among her other interests and hobbies included gardening, sewing, quilting, cooking, and singing with her sisters in a group called The Armstrong Sisters. Irna enjoyed spending time with her family and was known for her contagious laugh. She cared deeply for her grandchildren and raised a number of them in her home. Mrs. Irna Mae Prince leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Eunice Chandler, Betty (District Elder Wilbert Jr.) Reed, Clareather (Carl) Gildersleeve, and Ethline (Vincent) Boyd, all of Flint, MI; two sons, Rochester Prince of Grand Rapids, MI and Olando Prince of Flint, MI; 15 grandchildren, Clifford Chandler II, Calvin Anderson, Tiajuana Anderson, Roy Anderson, and Chester (Shamira) Anderson, all of Grand Rapids, MI, Casandra Chandler, Yolanda (Kenneth) Brown, Kirstie (Dashone) Stroble, Wilbert III (Chelsea) Reed, LaTresha Reed, Lydia Boyd, Vincent E. Boyd, and Nia Boyd, all of Flint, MI, Derrick (Tameka) Williams and Tiffany Williams of Charlotte, NC; 23 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Patty Newell of Covert, MI, Christine Holling of Louisville, KY, and Estella Young of Atlanta, GA; a host of other relatives and special friends including the staff of Loving Hands; many caretakers and nurses; and the entire Christ the Rock Church Family. Mrs. Prince was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Gilbert Prince; one daughter, Muriel Prince; parents, Moses and Betty Armstrong; four brothers; and two sisters.
