Mrs. Idella Hollis

HOLLIS, Mrs. Idella - Age 86, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4805 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Henry L. Fuller, Jr. officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Hollis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Another saintly soul has been ushered into the presence of Almighty God in the person of Mother Idella Hollis. Mother Idella Hollis departed this life on December 14, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Mother Hollis was born December 28, 1926 in Osceola, Arkansas to Cleave and Alice Wilson. The family relocated to Lakeview, AR, where she attended public schools. She accepted Christ at an early age uniting with the Salem Baptist Church in Lakeview, AR. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. John Hollis Sr., in 1948 and to this union twelve children were born. She relocated to Helena, AR, and united with the Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served with the Usher Ministry. The family relocated to Flint, Michigan in 1975, immediately continuing her Christian service, she united with Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, serving with the Usher Ministry and later was appointed to the Mother’s Ministry. Mother Hollis leaves to cherish sweet memories: 6 sons, Cleave Wilson, John (Cynthia) Hollis Jr., Samuel (Judy) Hollis and Patrick (Kyndall) Hollis, all of Flint; Terry Hollis of Oklahoma City, OK and Christopher (Tonjolyn) Hollis of Snellville, GA; 4 daughters, Doris Hollis, Lola (Charles) Dudley, Kathy Hollis and Alice Hollis, all of Flint; 30 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends, including, Mother Searcy Macklin, Mrs. Loma Wilson and Mrs. Theresa Baker of Detroit, MI; god-daughter, Carolyn King of Helena, AR. Mother Hollis was preceded in death by her husband, John Hollis; two sons, Malcom and Gregory, parents, eight brothers and one sister. The family wishes to thank the physicians and staff of ICU, Hurley Medical Center; Pastor Fuller and the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Family.
