STUART, Mr. Howard Nathaniel - Age 71, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 10:30 AM Monday, October 18, 2021 at 2nd Chance Church, 2070 Coldwater Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Derrick Aldridge officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Monday. Mr. Stuart will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday. Mr. Howard Nathaniel “Nate” Stuart was born on December 11, 1949, in McCaskill, Arkansas, the third oldest of six children born to Melvin and Thelma Stewart. In 1968 Nate graduated from Blevins Training School in Blevins, Arkansas. After relocating to Flint, Michigan he attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Otis A. Floyd and later attended 2nd Chance Church with his wife, Lisa. He was employed by Buick Motor Division, retiring after 34 ½ years. Nate was the epitome of a cool, classic man - smooth as the jazz he enjoyed listening to, stylish in his dress, and classic as the 1937 Chevy that he loved like none other. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, dancing, and going to basketball games with his sister-in-law. Nate’s favorite daily pastime was to laugh and visit with his friends on “The Ave.” His infectious smile and gentle spirit will be missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him. Mr. Howard Nathaniel “Nate” Stuart leaves to cherish sweet memories: loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Lisa A. Stuart of Flint; son, Deonta Nathaniel (Danielle) Stuart of Mt. Morris, MI; 2 daughters, Monica L. Stuart of Prescott, AR and Radiah Lewis of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 grandchildren, Ivan Young of Prescott, AR, Nijah Robbs of Grand Blanc, MI and Dallas Stuart of Mt. Morris, MI; 4 brothers, Billy (Evelyn) Porter of Hope, AR, Johnny Frank Stewart of Chicago, IL, John Earl Stewart of Flint and Willie Ray Stewart of Fort Lauderdale, FL; sister-in-law, Beverly Harris of Clio, MI; brother-in-law, Gregory Hindman of Riverdale, IL; nieces, nephews, other family & friends, Linda Webb, Lee Dale Ogburn, James Thorns, Gail Marshall Danielle Bibbs, The Marengo “Ave” Crew, Wilford Davis, William Giles, Lee Marshall, James Edward Davis, Dexter Clemons, Lewis Roberts, Debra A. LaCour, Jean Roberson, Cindy McGill and special neighbors, Larry and Jeanette Pethers. Mr. Stuart was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Thelma Stewart; grandparents, Frank and Beulah Stewart, John and Nettie Lee Ogburn; sister, Debra Ann Stewart Starr; mother and father-in-law, John and Ardean Souder, Sr.; sister-in-law, Vivian A. Stewart; brother-in-law, John Souder, Jr.; nephew, DeQuindre’ Stewart.
