Deacon Herbert Nash

NASH, Deacon Herbert - Age 78, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Detroit Harper Hospital. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, May 8, 2026, at House Of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd. with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Friday. Deacon Nash will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Deacon Herbert Nash was born July 12, 1947, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, the son of the late Delia Webb Nash and Andrew Jackson Nash. Herbert grew up with strong values of faith, service and dedication that would guide him throughout his life. He attended Tipton Street High School. Herbert was a devoted man of faith and proud Deacon of The House of Prayer. His commitment to his church and community was evident in the way he lived. Herbert was always willing to serve, support and uplift those around him. He honorably served his country in the United States Army following his military service he served as a mentor with the Youth Ministry where he made a lasting impact on the lives of many young people. He worked for General Motors for over thirty years. Deacon Nash will be greatly missed. Deacon Herbert Nash leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Carolyn Nash of Flint; children, Marcus Love, Tiffany Morris, Tanya Pitts-Grant, Gevia Coleman, Ernest Pitts Jr., Anthony S. Pitts and Antoine Pitts; grandchildren, Rachel and Michael Morris, Tovon Reddix, Moses Morris, Clarence Reddix-Morris, Larry “Jay R” Coleman, Dumaris Butler, Ayana Love, Daniel Austin, Bethany Butler and Maurice Butler; great-grandchildren, Nova and Alani Morris, Jasmine, Tiana and Alana Butler, Priscilla, Donovan and Mordekai; sisters, Billie Joyce Nash, Bonnie Harrell and Fannie (Dot) Edwards; nieces, Donna Nash, Lawana Woodard, Dorris Oglesby, Carolyn Blake, Thelma Reed, Patricia Nash, Laura Ann Nash, Lawanda Nass and LaQuisha Schreder; nephews, William and Billy Caldwell, Curtis and Perry Hall, Kenneth, Robert, Andrew, Michael and Claire Nash, Andrew Shaw, Stanley, William and Andrew; sister-in-law, Joyce Stewart; brother-in-law, Solomon Love.
