Mrs. Geneva Rowan

ROWAN, Mrs. Geneva - Age 86, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Bro. Evans Leslie officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Rowan will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 3-8 p.m. Friday. Mother Geneva Lee Rowan was born April 29, 1927 in Little Rock, AR, the daughter of John and Gertrude Jackson. She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s witnesses in Flint MI. She was baptized in 1990 in Holt MI. Mother Rowan loved her God Jehovah, attending meetings and the field ministry. She enjoyed being with her brothers and sisters in the congregation. Everyone loved her comments and so did she. Mother Rowan was a housekeeper and an entrepreneur. She managed Rowan Janitorial Services and cleaned several lawyer offices throughout the city of Flint. Mother Rowan was known for her beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor. She loved her children and grandchildren. She was loved and admired by all who knew her. She loved to cook and clean. Mother Rowan was very proud of her daughters, Annette Bell and Peggie Barnes who are recording artist with “The Angelaires” and supported all of their accomplishments. Mother Geneva Lee Rowan leaves to cherish her memory 5 daughters, Pearlie Cole, Johnnie Mae Young, Annette Bell, Peggie Barnes and Kesha (Michael) Dean; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Versie Jackson of Little Rock, AR and Easter Mae Horton of Memphis TN; a host of nieces and nephews and special friend Brenda Frumeth Hirsch. Mother Rowan was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gertrude Jackson; husband, Chester Rowan; 2 sisters, Iona Jordan and Earnestine Rodgers and 1 great-grandson, Deandre Cole. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Regional Medical Center Staff, Hurley Medical Center CCU Staff, Dr. Elian, The McLaren Cancer Institute, Dr. Filos and Dr. Thomas.
