SPENCER, Mr. Freddie, Jr. - Age 61, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Brian's House. Family hour 4:30PM Thursday, July 9, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with memorial service commencing immediately at 5PM, Rev. Clifford Burks officiating. Family and friends will asemble at the funeral home 4:30PM Thursday. Mr. Spencer will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Wednesday, with the family present from 5-7PM. Mr. Freddie Spencer, Jr. was born April 28, 1948 in Holt, Alabama, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Freddie and Lylia (Jones) Spencer, Sr. Freddie was lovingly raised by Mr. and Mrs. Solomon and Alma Lacy, Sr. He was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle. Freddie was employed by the Flint Community School, working at Southwestern Academy High School. He also was an AAU basketball coach, and an official referee of the MHSAA. Freddie was an avid sport enthusiast, where he coached football, track, basketball, wrestling, volleyball and girls golf. His love of coaching helped him to reach, teach and motivate children to reach their potential. He touched the lives of many young people. Mr. Freddie Spencer, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: beloved wife, Brenda; son, Corey, both of Flint; 2 daughters, Lucrissa of Virginia Beach, VA and Briana of Duncan, SC; 3 grandchildren, Skye, Trinity and KeShai; 4 sisters, Barbara Williams of Detroit, MI, Juanita Davis of Farmington Hills, MI, Eula Davis of Alabaster, AL and Bethena Thomas of Holt, AL; 3 brothers, Moses (Janice) Lacy of Mt. Morris, MI, Solomon (Donna) Lacy, Jr. of Clio, MI and Jimmy (Sedell) Lacy of Flint; 3 sisters-in-law, Mildred Robinson, Kathy (John) Carr of Flint and Gloria Locke of Simpsonville, SC; 2 brothers-in-law, Milus (Patricia) Robinson and Daniel (Darlene) Robinson, both of South Carolina; aunt, Willie Mae Clay of Detroit, MI; uncle, Ivory Jones of Saginaw, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by his parents; sister; aunts; and uncles. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Edwartd Gomez, Dr. Trevor Singh, and Dr. Madan Arora, McLaren Regional Medical Center 11th floor towers staff, McLaren Caner Institute, Brian’s House staff and the Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle family.
