Mr. Forest Chester Stocker Sr.

STOCKER, Mr. Forest Chester Sr. - Age 72, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at Greater Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C., 6702 N. Dort Hwy, with funeral services commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Johnnie Brown officiating, Bishop Roger L. Jones, Sr., Host Pastor. Interment Flint Memorial Park, 9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Monday. Mr. Stocker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Sunday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. with family present from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Mr. Forest Chester Stocker, Sr. was born August 24, 1942 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. Forest James and Annie B. (Balknight) Stocker. He graduated from Northern High School, attended Mott Community College, and became employed at Buick, a division of General Motors, where he remained employed for 44 years, retiring in 2006. Mr. Stocker’s faith led him to join Empowered Believers Worship Center four years ago, where he was an active member until his illness. “Dad” as he was affectionately called had the most infectious smile that warmed hearts, even during his illness he still had that smile. He never forgot a birthday, he was known for giving gifts that included Godiva chocolates and red roses. He was also known as an impeccable dresser as if he stepped from the pages of a GQ magazine. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and the world’s best father-in-law. Mr. Forest Chester Stocker, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: son, Forest Chester (Shenitta) Stocker II of Galloway, OH; granddaughter, Tiffani (Robert) Williams; grandsons, Sequan and Corey Orr, both of Flint, MI; great grandchildren, Kimora and Jaiden Orr, Nyla Hill and Robert “Rocky” Williams III, all of Flint; sister, Venisure Davenport of Grand Blanc, MI, who was vigilant in seeing that he got the best care available—for ten months she never wavered, and Blenda Craig of Arlington, TX; stepsister, Cheryl Schuppler of Flint; many nieces, nephews and cousins, including Hope Veasley, who was constant in her visits and concern for his needs; mother-in-law, Martha Kindell; a host of other relatives and friends—including special friends; Tommie (Steu) Simmons, J.B. and Marsha Smith, Kerry Ware of Denver, CO, Arthur Henderson, Curtis Jones and Joseph Head. Mr. Stocker was preceded in death by his former wife, Sharon; mother and stepfather, Annie B. and John Hubbard; father and stepmother, Forest J. and Thelma Stocker; siblings, James E. Stocker, Clara Taylor, Maxine Veasley and Sophronia Wilson; special friends, Hiram and Paulette Brisker, Vernon Walls, Sheri Owens and Kiata Orr. The family would like to express a special “thank you” to Christy at McLaren-Flint Medical Center 2 Central, who could not have been more diligent in her care of Chester had he been a member of her own family during his many stays in the acute care unit.
