Walker, Mrs. Fannie Lee - Age 94, graduated to the larger life on March 8, 2010 at Kith Haven Nursing Home. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1610 W. Pierson Rd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Rev. Sean Payne officiating. Pastor James Kennedy Host Pastor. Interment 11AM, Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Woodlawn Cemetery, 19975 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Michigan 48203. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Walker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM Sunday. Family members will be present Sunday from 4pm-8pm, with Eastern Star Memorial Service being held at 5:00 pm. Mrs. Fannie Lee Walker was born April 17, 1916 in Macon, GA to Emmie (Goodwin) and Willie Lightfoot. Her family relocated to Michigan City, IN and later to Flint, MI where she and her siblings were raised by her mother and stepfather, Alex Turner. In 1938, she married William Walker and had two children. They lived in Detroit MI where they were active members of the Peoples Community Church led by Pastor Martin C. Bolton. While a member of PCC, she participated in the Floral Club, April Birthday Club and Sunday School Class #3. Mrs. Walker was also an active member in the Greater Rising Star Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, which she joined in 1948. In 2001, Mrs. Walker returned to reside in Flint MI and attended church with her children and grandchildren until uniting with the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in 2008. She was an avid traveler and one of her goals was to visit all 50 of the United States. She enjoyed talking to her friends and family, reading the bible, and doing word search puzzles before she lost her sight. She dressed to impress and always wore a hat and dress to church, Mrs. Walker leaves to rejoice in her memory: daughter, Starlee McDaniel of Flint; 11 grandchildren, Sandra Brandon, John Bush III, Frederick McDaniel, Nedra Bush, Brenda (Willie) Norris, Lisa (Eric) Johnson, Terence (Joanne) McDaniel, Eljean McDaniel and David (Dana) Bush all of Flint, Maurice (Patricia) McDaniel of Indianapolis, IN and Valerie Ewing of Denver, CO.; 16 great-grandchildren, 28 great- great-grandchildren ; 3 goddaughters, Felicia West, Darnetta Leak, and Martha Satterwhite; sister, Thelma (Thomas) Haywood of Flint; 3 sisters-in-law, Rosemary Turner of Flint, Dorothy Jones of Southfield and Christine Green of CA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including Teddy (Sylvia) Keys, Dorothy Robinson, Edna Willis, Joyce Keys, Gladys Givan, Mamie Lou Johnson, and Jesse Carter; Eastern Star sisters; Carpenter Road Church of Christ; Peoples Community Church and Mt Carmel Baptist Church families, along with the residents and Staff of Kith Haven Nursing Home. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by: her husband, William Walker; daughter, Beverly Jean Bush; parents, Emmie (Alex) Turner and Willie Lightfoot; 5 sisters Georgia Mae, Mildred, Irene, Mary and Nadine and 5 brothers, Emmett, Jackson, Nathaniel, Robert and Stanley. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Barbara Mercer and the staff of Kith Haven Nursing Home and Edna, staff nurse Hurley Medical Center Ob-Gyn Clinic.
