Ms. Fannie Marie Coney

CONEY, Ms. Fannie Marie - Age 74, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Fenton Healthcare Center, Fenton, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, September 7, 2023, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W, Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Rev. Patrick Sanders II, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Thursday. Ms. Coney will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and will be viewed during the family hour only. Ms. Fannie Marie Coney was born on January 11, 1949, in East Carroll Parish to the union of Eddie Lee (deceased) and Ora Parks Lee. Fannie was educated in the East Carrol Parish School System. She later married Arthur Collins and moved to Flint, Michigan where they raised their son, Dexter. Several years later, their marriage ended. Fannie subsequently remarried Willie Coney; to this union a son, Demarco, was born. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she worked as a dedicated Newspaper Carrier for The Flint Journal and prided herself on having the largest delivery territory in Genesee County and on providing award-winning service. Fannie was loved by her customers on her newspaper route, and they often waited to be greeted by her. Although her marriage to Willie Coney eventually ended, Fannie continued to be a loving mother and family member. Ms. Fannie Marie Coney leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Ora Veasley, of Meridianville, Alabama; son, Demarco (Yolanda) Coney, of Flint, Michigan; sisters, Alice (Kelly) Threats of Monroe, Louisiana, and Annie (Clarence) Brooks of Meridianville, Alabama; brothers, George Dotson, of Meridianville, Alabama, and Dale (Younalanda) Whitaker of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; sister-in-law, Lucretia Willis, of Bridgeport, Michigan; three special nieces, Katrina Lee, of Chicago, Illinois, Tiffany Dotson of Las Vegas, Nevada and Sherita (Jerryl) Yarbrough of Milton, Florida; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fannie was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Lee; son, Dexter Lee; sister, Eartha Lee; brother, Alexander Lee; brother, Terry Dotson.
