Mrs. Emma Roberts

ROBERTS, Mrs. Emma - Age 75, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Kith Haven Nursing Home. Family hour 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2013 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 711 S. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 1 p.m. The Rev. Barbara Cavin, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church 11:30 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Roberts will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Friday during family hour only. Mrs. Emma Jean Roberts was born June 13, 1938 in Decatur, Alabama the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Judge and Wyley Broughm- Lewis. She moved to Flint, Michigan in 1950 with her family and attended Flint Community Schools graduating from Flint Northern in 1956. In that same year she was united in Holy Matrimony to John O. Roberts III where they shared 55 enchanting years together. She loved to spend time with her family and to play bingo. Emma Roberts worked at The Fair Store for several years where she shared her love for fashion with many. Mrs. Roberts was a member of Christ Episcopal Church which later merged with St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Her church service included, Gospel Choir, Chancel Choir, and the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Tuesday Lunch Bunch. Mrs. Emma J. Roberts leaves to cherish in her memory, 1 daughter, Velecia Ford of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 sons, Damaris Roberts of Detroit, MI, Lemire(Tony) Roberts of Fort Worth, TX, and Jerrod Roberts of Flint, MI; 5 granchildren, Quiara, Myia, Jelecia, Lauren, and Seth; 2 great-granchildren, Maleah and Erynn; 6 sisters Gerldine Hobbs, Mattie Ross, both of Flint, Elizabeth (Thomas) Rowland of Memphis, TN, Waniece (Leon) Smith of Grand Blanc, MI, Donna (Larry) Brown; sister- in-law, Laura Mitchell, all of Swartz Creek, MI, and Eugina Love of Decatur, AL; 5 brothers, Floyd Lewis of Carlyle, IL, Edward Lee Lewis, Marcus (Berthetta) Lewis, all of Flint M, Rodney (Carolyn) Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV and Tony Mitchell of Ishpeming, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Roberts III; parents, Judge and Wyley Lewis; brothers, Judge W. Lewis III, Carneal Lewis, David Lewis, Dennis Mitchell, and Willie Mack Lewis.
