JOHNSON, Mrs. Emma Jean Claybrook - Age 76, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at her residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, August 18, 2018 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM, Pastor Michael R. Gibson, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the Chapel 1:30 PM Saturday. Public viewing will only be during the family hour. Mrs. Johnson will be taken to Thompson Mortuary, 150 Volz Avenue, Ripley, TN., 38063; Ph. No. 1.731.635-9322. Emma Jean (Claybrook) Johnson was born on March 27, 1942, in Crockett County, Tennessee, to Dave Henry and Nellie Marie Claybrook. Mother Johnson made her courageous transition on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at her residence. Mother Johnson received her early education through the Crockett County School system in Tennessee. In the mid-1960’s Mother Johnson and her husband, James Johnson, moved to Flint, Michigan where she furthered her education at C.S. Mott Community College. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of Greater Paradise Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Michael R. Gibson. Mother Johnson worked as a CENA for over 30 years, giving care services to Clara Barton Terrace, Maplebrook Manor, and Heritage Manor. She retired in 2007. Mother Johnson enjoyed cooking for family, friends, and all occasions (she made the best dressing, fried chicken, tomato dumplings, and any kind of pies, just to name a few). Mother Johnson also enjoyed spending time with family, friends and traveling. Mother Johnson was a kind and lovable person. She was the “Queen” of preparing a full course meal when the cupboards appeared bare (only she could see a meal when everyone else saw sporadic can goods and a few seasonings). Mother Johnson was also a very giving person. She would give you her last if you were in need. Mother Johnson leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Janice L. (Robert) Holbrook, Linda L. Johnson (Ezra) Barnes, of Flint, Michigan, and Pamela A. (Larry) Owens of Battle Creek, Michigan, 2 sons, James W. Claybrook of Maury City, Tennessee and Elliott L. (Pamela Coffer) Claybrook of Mount Morris, Michigan; 22 grandchildren Shaquilla, Antwun, Jamie (Akeena), Vanity, James, Zakolby, Zonuelle a/k/a Scrappy, Kaylonda, Thomas (Neneia), Michelle, Benard, Leecia, Tiffany (Grover), Antwan, Andrea, Elliott Jr., Ashley (Millando), Alonzo, Anthony, Arriyana, Edward Jr., and Miracle. 39 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ernestine Neely and Barbara Jean Swift of Maury City, TN; 4 brothers, Earnest “Bill” (Bertha) Claybrook of Maury City, TN, L.C. Claybrook of Flint, Michigan, Joe (Sue) Claybrook of Ripley, Tennessee and Frank (Inez) Claybrook of Gates, Tennessee; a cousin that was reared as a sister, Bernice Allen; 5 sisters-in-law, Nina Hart and Joyce Johnson of Flint, Michigan, Josalind (Edward) and Kathy Townsend of Forrest, Mississippi, and Carol Jones of Memphis, Tennessee. A host of other relatives and friends, including Ernestine Fagan, Michael E. Smith, Belinda Reddick, Tina Claybrook, Shanitha Barnes, Thomas Williams Sr., Edward Smith Sr., Robert Perry, Lillie Leverette, Birdie McFadden, and Greater Paradise M.B. Church family. Mother Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Johnson, daughter, Emma, 2 granddaughters Angel and Keshawn, parents: Dave Henry and Nellie Marie Claybrook, sister Nellie May Claybrook, 2 brothers, Dave Henry (Beno) Claybrook Jr. and Homer Junior Claybrook; 2 aunts, Annie Mae Wright and Mary Lewis, 2 uncles, Homer Claybrook and Earnest Claybrook, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wakefield and Mary K. Johnson.
