CARTHAN, Mr. Elmore - Age 73, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at McLaren Regional Medical Center.Family hour 1:30PM Saturday, June 21, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM, Pastor Norman L. Booker, Sr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Saturday. Mr. Carthan will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mr. Elmore Carthan Sr. was born February 5, 1935 to the late James and Mary (Newman) Carthan in Ebenezer, Mississippi. Mr. Elmore Carthan Sr. was educated in the Mississippi school system, and graduated from Milestone Vocational High School. Mr. Elmore Carthan Sr. accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He served in the United States Army in 1957. He worked for over 30 years for General Motors and retired from Buick City; he was a member of Local Union 599. Mr. Elmore Carthan Sr. leaves to cherish precious memories; his devoted wife Elnora Carthan. 10 Children, Earnest (Jacquelyn) Smith of Bensenville, IL; Warren G. Smith of Evanston, IL; Annette Nunnally of Dolton, IL; Patricia (Lawrence) Canders of Calumet City, IL; Madonna Carthans of South Holland, IL; Elmore Carthans Jr. of South Holland, IL; Darryl (Andrea) Carthan of Grand Blanc, MI; Angela Fox of Flint, MI; Eric Carthan of Grand Blanc, MI; Derrick Carthan of Flint MI; And 3 Stepchildren Vickie Carson of Stone Mountain, GA, James (Kara) Vines of Flint, MI, Sibrina Vines of Stone Mountain, GA; 19 grandchildren, ten great-grand children and 12 step grandchildren. One Brother Eddie James Carthan of Tchula, Mississippi. Two sisters Lucille Sims of Markham, IL and Maxine Williams of Detroit, MI and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special grandkids that he lovingly called Tootie and C.W. Mr. Carthan was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary (Newman) Carthan. Brothers, Eugene, Will and Joseph Carthan; and sisters, Warrene Epps and Leora Mathews.
