PETTIGREW-LARRY, Mrs. Ellen - Age 72, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Regency - Grand Blanc, MI. Public viewing 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with the family present. Ellen Pettigrew-Larry (72), was born October 16, 1942 in Grenada, Mississippi to Will Reed and Ruby Lee Woodman. During her transition from earth to heaven, she was residing at Regency Healthcare Center in Grand Blanc, MI. Mrs. Ellen Pettigrew was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where her son – Rev. Michael Pettigrew is the Pastor. She will always be remembered in our hearts forever and ever. We Love You MOM! Mrs. Ellen Pettigrew truly loved her family. On the 5th of April “Easter Sunday” at 1:02p.m., She went on to claim her mansion in the sky and to join all of her loved ones that had gone on before her. Mrs. Ellen Pettigrew was a praying mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and a friend; who truly had a special relationship with the Lord. She loved the Word of God and she loved talking to Her Lord and Savior. She didn’t mind telling you about the goodness of the Lord. Mrs. Ellen Pettigrew’s interest included family, church, planting house plants, listening to some good ole down home blues, playing cards and simply enjoying her life to the fullest. She gave to the Disabled American Veterans Association. She also gave to the St. Joseph’s Indian School in order to give the children happier lives and a brighter future. To know Mrs. Pettigrew was to love her. She would tell some stories that would have you bursting from the seams from laughing so hard. Mrs. Ellen Pettigrew was preceded in death by her parents: Will Reed and Ruby Lee Woodman, Three brothers: David Smith, Joshua Smith, Alvin Smith and Two sisters: Willie Reed and Murrell Malone. She leaves to cherish her memory, Six sons, Curtis Pettigrew (Stephanie) of Memphis, TN., Arthur Pettigrew (Essie) of Flint, MI., Willie Pettigrew (Madge) of Grand Blanc, MI, Alvin Pettigrew of Memphis, TN., Michael Pettigrew (Debra) of Flint, MI., Nelson Pettigrew of Owosso, MI., Four daughters, Mae Ellen & (Waynemon) Brown of Flint, MI., Annie Mae & (Emmanuel) Smith of Mt. Morris, MI., Georgia & (Sammy) Willis of Ypsilanti, MI. and Margaret & (Gregory) Alexander of Jonesboro, AR. She also leaves to cherish her memory: One brother Wilbert Reed of Mt. Morris, MI. and Three sisters, Ruby Dawson of Caruthersville, MO., Oni Mae Mack of Jacksonville, FL, and Lexie Taylor of West Memphis, Tenn. Mrs. Ellen Pettigrew-Larry had a host of grandchildren and great- grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; all of which she loved dearly.
