Earnest Gloster

GLOSTER, Mr. Earnest - Age 72, passed away Monday, August 29, 2005 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11AM Saturday, September 3, 2005 at Austin Avenue Baptist Church, 602 E. Austin Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon. Pastor Donald Hughes officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Saturday. Mr. Gloster will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mr. Earnest Gloster was born on October 24, 1932 in Pooler, Georgia, the son of Mrs. Rosalee Burke and Mr. Handy Gloster. Mr. Gloster was a resident of Flint and a faithful member of Austin Ave. Baptist Church. He retired from Flint V8 Engine Plant, a division of General Motors Corporation, and was a member of UAW Local 659. In 1952, Mr. Gloster was an Honorably Discharged Veteran of the United States Army; he served as a PFC in the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mr. Earnest Gloster leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Ms. Janice Gloster; son, Mr. Earnest (Tameka) Gloster, Jr.; 5 step-children, Mr. Ronnie (Sherrie) Shuman, Mr. Bernard (Cheryl) Shuman, Mrs. Patricia (Johnny) Player, all of Flint, Mr. Troy (Dalette) Holmes of Dallas, TX, Mr. Brian (Lisa) Boyd of Los Angeles, CA; 5 grandchildren, Eshon, Cierra, Chianne, Cianna Gloster, all of Flint, Troy Anthony Holmes, Jr. of Houston, TX; 2 brothers, Ulysses (Carol) Gloster, and Alfonso Burke; 3 sisters, Cornelia (Floyd) Griffin, Bertha (Nathaniel) Bowers, and Catherine Burke of Marietta, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Ms. Roberta Gloster, Dr. Arif, Ms. Diane at Kith Haven, Mrs. Melba Smith, Mr. George Mincey and many more special friends who loved him, but God loved him best. Mr. Earnest Gloster was preceded in death by his fiancÚe, Dorothy Jean Harper; father and stepmother, Handy (Irene) Gloster; mother and stepfather, Rosalee (Solomon) Burke. The family of the late Mr. Earnest Gloster wishes to thank you, the members of Austin Ave. Baptist Church, and many friends for the kindness shown to us in our hour of bereavement. We thank you for your many calls, visits, flowers, food, and most of all your prayers.
