BLEVINS, Mrs. Dorothy - Age 60, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006 at McLaren Medical Center. Family hour 6-8PM Thursday, March 30, 2006 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 1PM Friday, March 31, 2006 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd. Bishop Odis A. Floyd, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbeares will assemble at the church 1PM Friday. Mrs. Blevins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mrs. Dorothy Jean Blevins was born on May 18, 1945 in Greenwood, Mississippi, the daughter of Douglas and Lillie C. Childress. Mrs. Blevins was a resident of Flint Township and a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church. She was employed as a licensed Cosmetologist for 40 years. Dorothy received her Bachelors, Masters, Doctorate degrees from the National Beauty Culture League. She was a member of the Wolverine State Cosmetology Association, President of the Flint Beauty Cadets and proprietor of Dorothy & Frankie?s Salongo Styling Center for 23 years. Dorothy loved cooking, baking, traveling and shopping. Mrs. Dorothy Jean Blevins leaves to cherish her memory: loving husband of 38 years, Huston Blevins; 2 daughters, Delphine (Kyle) Stewart and Melvina Blevins-Walton all of Richmond, VA; 2 stepchildren, Huston (Trudy) Adair of San Diego, CA, Rose Adair of Indianapolis, IN; 5 grandchildren her pride and joy, Brian Walton, II, Ebony Walton, De?Erre Blevins-Henry, Kayla and Kierra Stewart, all of Richmond, VA; 3 sisters, Camilla (Kenneth) McGee, Earlean (Elmo) Tims, all of Flint, and Frances Wood of Lorain, OH; 5 brothers, Norman (Lorine), Farmon (Irma), Arden (Gloria), Clyde (Linda), and Willie Childress of Lorain, OH; a host of nieces including, Lillie C. (Johnny) Allen of Madison, MS and Lillie B. McClellan of Chicago, IL; a host of nephews including, Kenneth McGee, Jr., of Flint, Farmon Childress, Jr., of Hawaii, and Reginald (Tiffany) McGee of Taylor, MI; 2 sisters-in-law, Gussie Mae Taylor of Ypsilanti and Thelma Childress-Davis of Grand Blanc, MI; brother-in-law, Benny Blevins of Doyle, CA; many other relatives and friends to numerous to mention by name. Mrs. Dorothy Jean Blevins was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, 1 sister, and 3 brothers. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Regional Medical Center Emergency Room Staff, Dr. C. Malde, Dr. E.G Raj, and New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church family.
