ANDERSON, Mrs. Dorothy - Age 63, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 at Brian's House. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Anderson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. There will be no public viewing. Mrs. Dorothy Lee Anderson was born March 30, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Robert Lee and Viola (Gaston) Jackson. Dorothy was a resident of Flint since the age 12. She graduated from Central High School, “Class of 1964.” Dorothy was a baptized as a teen and was a member of Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church. She was united in Holy Matrimony to James E. Anderson April 14, 1969. Dorothy retired from Hurley Medical Center after 26 years of service. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, doing crossroad puzzles, playing bingo and traveling on casino trips with friends. Mrs. Dorothy Lee Anderson leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Katina (Kevin) Hall of Columbus, OH and Venita E. (Malcolm) Jones of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Dennis (Stephanie) Powell of Lansing, MI, Malcolm Jones, Jr. and Jasmine Jones, both of Atlanta, GA, Kameran and Dominic Hall, both of Columbus, OH and Shaniya Hall of Flint; a host of nieces and nephews; 2 aunts, Katie Collins and Versie Lee (Pearl) Halbert, all of Indianapolis, IN; 3 cousins, Robert Gaston of Indianapolis, IN, Antonio Halbert and Hannah Jones, both of Flint; 3 sisters-in-law, Ella Bean of Flint, Betty Thomas and Schantell Anderson, both of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 brothers-in-law, Bobby Anderson of Flint, Joe Bean and Ellis Anderson, both of Grand Bland, MI and Greg Anderson of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special sister friend, Shirley Peterson Hatten; special friends, Margie Butler and Clotea Dansby. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Anderson; grandparents, Mary and Edward Jackson; mother and father-in-law, Flossie Mae and Dee Ellis Anderson and brothers-in-law, Don R. and Billy W. Anderson. The family would like to express special thanks to faithful neighbors, Larry Cobb and Michelle Colen; extra special thanks to Rosa (Linda) Presley, Ann Buford, Rosie Malone, Dalila Alexis and Demillias Rutherford, good friend, Beverly King and the staff of Brian’s House Hospice Care Center.
