Mrs. Dorothy Luevern Alexander-Nash

ALEXANDER-NASH, Mrs. Dorothy Luevern - Age 72, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Spencer Manor-Burton, MI. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Antwain Alexander officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Alexander-Nash will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday. Mrs. L. Nash was born December 27, 1941 in Covington, Tennessee, the daughter of Eddie Alexander and Martha Eaton. Mrs. Nash moved to Flint, Michigan in 1958 from Covington, Tennessee, where she raised her boys, while completing a degree in Nursing from Mott Community College. She worked for Hurley Medical Center before relocating to Los Angeles, California, where she continued her nursing career, working for Cedar Sinai Medical Center and Daniel Freeman Hospital, retiring in 1999. Mrs. Nash returned to Flint in 2002 and became a member of Kingdom First Church. She loved shopping, traveling, spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Mrs. Nash was also the “Los Angeles Lakers” #1 fan. She leaves to cherish her memory: 3 sons, Elbert (Faye) Alexander of Pontiac, MI, Lawrence (Dana) Alexander of Flint and Patrick Tolbert of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Lawrence Alexander Jr. of Pueblo, CO, Justin Franklin of Flint, Jalyn Alexander of Pontiac, MI, Glenn Yarbrough of Pueblo, CO, Monica, Andre and Jeffrey Kennedy of Pontiac, MI; great-grandchildren, Xexyla Alexander and Deangelo Yarbrough; 5 sisters, Sarah Holling, Beverly (Arthur) Jacks, Patricia Wright, Ivy and Teresa Alexander, all of Flint; 5 brothers, William Alexander of Flint, Rufus Alexander of Los Angeles, CA, Elder Odis (Linda) Alexander of Mt. Morris, MI, Eddie Alexander and Clayton (Mary) Alexander of Victorville, CA; aunt, Mary Eaton of Pontiac, MI; sister-in-law, Nadine Alexander of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Nash was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Alexander; mother, Martha Wright; and 3 brothers.
