Mrs. Donzella Holliday

HOLLIDAY, Mrs. Donzella - Age 79, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024, at her residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, November 8, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Rev. Recco Richardson, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Friday. Mrs. Holliday will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Donzella Holliday was born August 6, 1945 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of Donnie and Hassie Summers. She accepted Christ at an early age Donzella moved to Flint, Michigan at the age of 5, where she attend Flint Public Schools. She graduated from Flint Central High School and received an Associate Degree in accounting from Baker College. Also, she was employed at Kilbourne Drug Store for many years. Donzella had a loving and kind heart. She was loved and liked by many. If you needed a place to stay, her home was always open. As she called it “The Holliday Inn’. If you got into a financial bind, she was there. In her words, “sign your name in the black book”. Also, she was a donator to St. Jude Children Hospital. Donzella loved spending time with family, friends “TAKING PICTURES OF EVERYONE,” playing dominos, bid wiz, and teaching the grandkids how to play Tunk with pennies. She also enjoyed traveling, listening to blues, buying her family gifts off of HSN, and doing yearly Birthday dinners with childhood friend Regina and Carolyn. Donzella Never Ever forgot anyone’s birthday. No matter how young or old, you got the ‘Happy Birthday” song. Donzella Holliday leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Janice “Sheree” Summers of Memphis TN, and Tanya “Pookie” Holliday; son, Jacoby Holliday, both of Flint; 11 grandchildren, Kayetta Neal, Marquis Quetta Vaughn, Sylvester Reed Jr., Eboni Caldwell, Camay White, Brandon Arnold, Quantise Holliday, Jalan Holliday, Ja’coby Holliday Jr., Angelica and Paige Holliday; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Donnie Summers, Melvin (Jean) Summers, and Curley (Bonnie) Summers, all of Michigan; 3 sisters, Dorthy Mae Towns of Mt. Morris, MI, Corine (Dave) Anthony of Flint and Ella Robinson of Little Rock, AR; a host of nieces, nephews including special nephews, Buck and Curley, (her handymen); a host of cousins; special grandson, (her phone buddy) Nasir Skinner; a host of friends including special friends, Melvin Gray, Evelyn Redwine, Carolyn Fields, Georgia Smith and brother-in-law, David Smith.. Donzella was preceded in death by her parents, Donnie and Hassie Summers; 3 sisters, Tylese Harris, Helen Robinson, and Minnie Pearl Richardson. The family would like to express special thanks to Kristine of Gentiva Hospice, Jerri Scott and Sister Corine Anthony.
