WALKER, Mr. Derrick D. (Spearman) “Twan” – Age 38, passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Dist. Eld. Wilbert Reed, Jr., officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, 5175 E. Bristol Rd.Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Tuesday. Mr. Walker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Mr. Derrick D. (Spearman) “Twan” Walker was born November 15, 1971 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Myrtle L. (Henry) Spearman and Eric K. Walker. He accepted Christ at an early age at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Derrick attended Flint Public Schools. He graduated class of 1989 from Albion High in Albion, MI. He won a 4 year basketball scholarship and attended Kellogg College in Sabetha, Kansas. Derrick work for Labor Ready, Cell Phone CO. and other various jobs. He loved cooking, laughing and joking with family and friends, playing basketball and watching basketball games. He also enjoyed being around his East side friends. Mr. Derrick Walker leaves to cherish his memory: son, Derrick Walker of Sabetha, KS; daughter, Martricia S. Spearman; grandson, Jeremiah Spearman both of Battle Creek, MI;parents, Myrtle L. (Henry) Spearman and Eric K. Walker; grandmother, Ms. Corrine Walker of Grand Blanc, MI; sister, D’Antonia Oneal; god-brother, Mr. George E. Johnson; god mother, Ms. Therease Valentine and Family;1 niece; 3 nephews; 8 aunts including, Ms. Betha Walker of Cincinnati, OH and Ms. Azarea Hanson; 9 uncles; mothers of his children; Maria Graham of Battle Creek, MI and Kay Duncan of Sabetha, KS; many cousins including special cousins, Jose, Omar, Punchie Spearman, Coveno Pierce,Tenell and Christian; a host of other relatives and friends including, Arbony, Elory, Ridgeway St., Billings St., Dea. Ronald and Lorraine Green, Gwen Biggs, Pat Shackelford, Addie Wakefield, Abbie and Louise Campbell families. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Walker; stepfather, Franklin R. Henry; grandparents, Robert and Minnie Spearman; aunts, Rose M. Spearman and Jackie Pierce; uncle, James M. Spearman; cousins, Marquita V. Spearman and Coquise Davis. The family would like to express special thanks to Macedonia Baptist Church family and District Eld. Wilbert Reed, Jr. and Christ The Rock Apostolic Church family.
