McQUEEN, Mr. Darris Duane - Age 67, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024, at his residence. Family 1:30 P.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Pastor Johnny Jackson, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the Funeral Home 1:30 PM Tuesday. Mr. McQueen will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Public viewing will be held during the family hour only. Darris Duane McQueen was born November 6, 1956 to the parents of Louis and Ernest McQueen in Miami, Florida. Lifelong resident of Flint, Michigan member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Graduated from Beecher High School. He was employed for Security Officer at Allied Universal in addition worked at Johnny’s Superette, Square One and Blue Star all located in Beecher. Enjoyed playing the lottery numbers, joking and was the life of the party. Thoroughly enjoyed cooking one his favorite dishes Nacho Bell Grande his favorite words was “Taco Bell don’t have nothing on Boy Dee.” Darrius took great pride in knowing Gloria was good for fourty-four years. Darris Duane McQueen leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Gloria McQueen; daughter, Christie Pope; grandchildren, Niquan Williams, De’lante and Christopher Mckenney all of Flint; siblings, Carolyn and Cheryl McQueen, Barbara Arline and Ronnie McQueen; nieces and nephews, Keyonna McQueen, Tamika Rudolph, Sherrell Holt, La’Joyo McQueen, Azie Spence, Timothy Hawkins and Martell McQueen; aunts, Ernestine McQueen of Florida and Pauline McBride of Georgia; uncles, Gilbert Demoplish and James Albert McQueen of Florida; sisters-in-law, Louise and Eddie Pope, Thomas Ball, Kenneth Holt and Phillip Pope; and a host of other relatives and friends special friend, Cedrick Murphy, Jimmy, Mike, Donald, Curtis, Kermit, Jesse, Alfred, Bruce, Larry – brothers of distinction. Darris was preceded in death by parents, Louise and Ernest McQueen; uncles, Gilbert Demoplish and James Albert McQueen; sister, Ernestine McQueen; aunt, Pauline McBride; grandparents, Catherine and Willie McQueen; mother-in-law, Christine Ball.
