CALLAWAY, Mr. Cortney Monray James - Age 29, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Bountiful Love Ministry, 3432 Pasadena Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Callaway will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Cortney MonRay James Callaway was born November 17, 1985 in Flint, MI, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Cornell and Marilyn Callaway. He was educated in the Flint Public School System and was a graduate of Northern High School. After graduating High school, Cortney furthered his education at Mott Community College. He was a member of Bountiful Love Ministry, and remained faithful and loved God until the end. His favorite scripture was “Isaiah 53:5”. Cortney enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, sports, cutting hair, listening to music, barbequing, cooking, drawing and spending time with his family. People often called him “#1 Instigator”. He was always blazing on people and was so funny! Cortney faced many challenges with his health starting from age 15. Yet he lived and loved life to the fullest. Cortney embraced the joys of fatherhood. Mr. Cortney MonRay James Callaway leaves to cherish his memory: fiancé, Joyce “Tina” Turner of Flint; daughter, Zariona Callaway; 2 special sons, Diondre and Diontae Boone; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Cornell and Marilyn Callaway; grandparents, Clara Callaway and L.C. Lewis Sr.; 4 sisters, Catarra Lewis, Cynthia Callaway, Chevette Claiborne, Chrystal Callaway, and Equilla Claiborne all of Flint; brothers, Cornell (LaKisha) Lewis and Dreko Callaway all of Flint; 9 nieces; 13 nephews; 11 aunts; 10 great-aunts; 10 uncles; 1 great-uncle; numerous cousins; a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends Christopher and Norman Turner, and Darnell “Big Baby” Causey. Mr. Cortney MonRay James Callaway was preceded in death by: great-grandparents, Inetta and Jack Williams; great-grandmother, Mattie Jackson; grandfather, Nathanie Callaway Sr.; grandmother, Mary Lee Hicks; aunt, Beatrice Lewis; and uncle, Jameson Larry Lewis.
