SMITH, Mrs. Coretta Yolanda - Age 46, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Smith will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Coretta ‘Angel’ Smith was born June 10, 1968 in Detroit, MI., the daughter of Elvee Smith and Walter Jones. She truly lived up to her name, and is truly an Angel now. Coretta was a very caring and loving lady. She was a great mother to her three children. Anything they needed, she had it, and gave it. Coretta took care of everybody without asking for anything in return. She was truly a blessing to have had here on Earth with us. ‘Angel’ blessed so many people. She was a very joyful lady who loved listening to her music, partying, and dancing. ‘Angel’ loved her family dearly, even if you weren’t family, she took you in as her own. She will be very loved and missed. We all know our ‘Angel’ is with God now, watching over us. Mrs. Coretta ‘Angel’ Smith leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters: Mildred and Coretta J.E. Smith; son: Merlin Smith all of Flint, MI; sisters: Carmen Smith of Detroit, MI, Francise Gaulden of Denver, CO, Ruth and Tricia Heard; brothers: Alfred Gaulden, Thedo Heard, and Darryl Jones; nieces: Megan Chapman, Stanley Garrett, Shakeya Bradwell; great-nieces: Ashley and Mercedes Gray, Kehlie, Kerrie and Kennedy Garrett; nephew: Seth Chapman; great-nephews: Brandon Bradwell and Damon Williams; nephew-in-law: Reginald Garrett; cousins: Lakeshia and Terrell Williams, and Germaine Ross; mother-in-law: Mildred Pearson; sisters-in-law: Vickie Gaulden and Dean Heard; brothers-in-law: Walter Crain and James Johnson: a host of other relatives and friends including: her best friend, Tashica Smith; Alicia Gordon, who was like her daughter; Tomi Gordon, who was like her sister; and special friends Clyde and Claressa McKinney. She was preceded in death by parents: Elvee Smith and Walter Jones; sister: Jeanette; husband: Merlin Crain; brother-in-law: Bennie; and cousins: Doris and Reginald.
