BURNS, Mr. Clifton - Age 23, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon. Eld. Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Burns will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Monday. Mr. Clifton “Woody” Burns was born March 5, 1988 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Terri Burns and Clifton McElroy. “Woody” attended Flint Public Schools and graduated from Northern High School, “Class of 2006.” He also attended Mott Community College, where he majored in Business Administration. Clifton enjoyed playing basketball, listening to music, bowling and spending time with his family, friends and his only child, Delaine. He was previously employed at Landmark Supermarket and Premier Packaging. “Woody” always had a smile on his face, even when there was something bothering him. He was the kind of person people liked to see coming. “Woody” could step into the room and brighten up your day. Clifton, “Neeka” and Tommy lost their mother when they were young. Through it all, he still became a productive citizen of society. Woody’s son looks around for him to appear, but he’s not there. He listens for his voice, but it’s not heard. Lord knows we’re missing him already. Mr. Clifton “Woody” Burns leaves to cherish his sweet memories: fiancée`, Sharanda Powell; son, Delaine Burns; father, Clifton McElroy, all of Flint; grandparents, Lottie McElroy of Burton, MI and Kenneth Burns of Chicago, IL; sister, Shineeka “Neeka” Burns of Flint; 4 brothers, Rev. Tommy Burns of Washington, DC, Delantae McElroy of Minnesota, Dequintez Watkins and Clevon Beard, both of Flint; 3 aunts, Takisha “Lay Lay” Burns, Elena “Poochie” McElroy, Leshil “Shell” McElroy; 3 uncles, Edward “Beaver” and Laron Burns and Darrell Robertson, Sr., all of Flint; special cousins, Lavelle “Scooter” Ivy, Jay “Bubble” Liddell, Jerome “Ou’bay” Barfield, Jr., Darrell “Booka” Robertson, Jr., Mon Brown, all of Flint; a host of other cousins, relatives and friends including special friends, “Neeka”, Trent, Wayne, Tae, Marc, Boogie, Decky, Boo-yah, and J. Nard. Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his mother, Terri Burns; grandmother, Josie Shumpert-Burns; great-grandparents, Ulyses and Lee-Ethel Burns; and 2 uncles, Reginald Burns and Julius “Dude” McElroy. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Kenneth L.
