Deacon Clement "Porkchop" Pope

POPE, Deacon Clement "Porkchop" - age 84, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 12 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Eliezer Church Of The Apostolic Faith, 523 E. Hamilton Ave. with funeral service commencing at 1 p.m. Bishop Raymond Dunlap officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12 p.m. Tuesday. Deacon Pope will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday. Deacon Clement Pope was born February 12, 1930 in Fulton County, Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Jesse and Emma Sue Pope. He was a resident of Flint, Michigan and a member of Eliezer Church of the Apostolic Faith where he loved the Lord. Deacon Pope was employed at General Motors for over 25 years. He truly loved his wife, Almer, his children and he had a true passion for dogs. He was a Night Championship Huntsman and was in the woods anytime he got a chance. Deacon Pope was a avid hunter and truly enjoyed hunting with his dogs. He was hard but fair and was always interested in helping young people stay on track. Deacon Clement Pope leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Almer Pope; 3 daughters, Susanna Pope, Terrease Jenkins and Kimberly Pope; 4 sons, Rodney Pope, Joshua Pope, Paris Pope, all of Flint and Edward Pope of Tennessee; 2 sons-in-law, Charles Jenkins and Suley Barry; grandchildren, Zachariah (Adreial) Pope, Amari (Mariah) Pope, Nevaeh Jenkins, Annastasia Pope and Elizabeth Alexander Pope; 2 sisters, Mammie Jones and Annie Ruth Rainfield and Chris Ruth; nephews, James Jones, Robert Rainfield, Jr., David Lee and Bobby; aunt, Annie Noble Vickers; mother-in-law, Willie May Brown; 2 sisters-in-law, Florida Brown and Laura Ann Wright; 3 brothers-in-law, Jerome Perry, John Albert Brown and Roy Lee Brown; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including special friends, Bishop H. Raymond Dunlap, Sr. and Mother Lillian B. Dunlap. Deacon Pope was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Emma Sue Pope; sister, Jesse Ruth Rainfield; brother, Thomas Pope.
