GREEN, Mr. Clarence - Age 87, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, May 31, 2025 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Rev. James Green, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery. G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 1:30 PM Saturday, May 31, 2025. Mr. Green will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed Friday, May 30, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Mr. Clarence “Hammer” Green, was born on March 14, 1938, in Gadsen, Alabama to the late, Alexander Saint Walker and Sallie Victoria Green. At a young age of 8 years old, Clarence migrated to Flint, Michigan with his parents and siblings. He attended Flint Community Schools. In 1955, he enlisted in the United States Airforce, before the legal age, by saying he was 18, when he was only 17. Clarence was indeed a go-getter and determined once his mind was set. He was later employed at General Motors, Chevrolet Division where he served nearly 40 years dedicated service as a Millwright. It was at the workplace where Clarence acquired the name “Hammer”. It perfectly described how he stood on business in what he believed. Clarence was known for converting non-believers by any means necessary. The love and dedication that he had for his family was unwavering. As an entrepreneur, he started a cleaning service named, “Mr. Mopsie”. He employed his young sons, teaching them the value of being a provider. Clarence was an avid outdoorsman, hunted, and fished. He was famously known for bringing back “coons”, rabbits, squirrels, bass, specs, and bluegills. Clarence loved the outdoors and traveling with the love of his life, Mary Nesby-Green. When relaxing at home you could find him, watching his favorite show, “In the Heat of the Night”. Mr. Clarence “Hammer” Green leaves to cherish his memory: 2 sons, Andre Green Sr. of Muskegon, MI, and Ronald Green, of Flint, MI. 1, sister Alzora Stokes of Flint, MI. 5 grandsons, DeAnte (Krishina) Green, of Atlanta, Georgia, Jamar (Shaniya) Green, of Flint, MI, Andre “AJ” (Shalonda) Green II, of Clarksville, Tennessee, Derrick Brown, of Alger, MI, Kevin Brown, of Dallas, Texas. 4 granddaughters, Shawnta (Percy) Davis, of Houston, Texas, Sheri Logan, Chiquinta Price of Flint, MI. and Catalina Franklin of Boston, Massachusetts. He also leaves many great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends, including a special friend, his hunting buddy, Todd Thomas. Clarence was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Mary Green; 2 sons, James Eugene Green, and Ralph “Ralphie” Green; 2 sisters, Alice Maude Hudson, Ida Pearl Green, 4 brothers, Charles Green, James Green, Ralph Green, and Chester Green. The family would like to express special thanks to his “Golden Girls”, Sheri Logan, Lisa Jackson, Jackie Deloney, and Karen “Misty” Murphy. These golden ones took great time to dedicate their optimal care, patience, sharing many stories, laughter and most of all love. Thanks to McLaren Hospice also for their diligence and care.
