COX, Ms. Christeen - Age 81, passed Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center. Ms. Cox will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed Thursday, May 14, 2020 from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Mrs. Christeen Cox was born March 4, 1939 in Newton County, MS, the daughter of Earnest and Zeola Chapman. Being a woman of dedication, devotion and love, Christeen married the love of her life Mack Cox on Christmas day and were together for 28 years. Christeen retired from General Motors at A.C. Spark Plugs and was a dedicated member at Morning Star Baptist Church for 50 years under the leaderships of Pastor Henry Robinson, Pastor E. Lee Girley and Pastor Keith Bigelow. She served on the mother’s board, floral ministry and singed in the choir. She recently joined 2nd Chance Church under the leadership of Pastor Derrick Aldridge. She enjoyed shopping, walking, going on vacations and girls’ trips as well as a good movie and studying the word of God. She knew that serving the Lord would pay off. Mrs. Christeen Cox leaves to cherish her memories 2 children, Carolyn Moncrief of Flint, MI and Michael Andre Cox of Stone Mountain, GA; 8 grandchildren, Robert (Athena) Jamison of Wayne, MI; LaShonte’ Moncrief of Southfield, MI; Ebony Moncrief of Flint, MI; Kameka (Rashawn) Horton of Holly, MI; Michael Cox of Ypsilanti, MI; Antwan Jamison and Dominic Seabron of Flint, MI and Rhonda (William) Walker of Inkster, MI; 11 great-grandchildren, Asia and Sherard Horne of Grand Rapids, MI; Juwan Jamison and Jacob Kiwanuka of Wayne, MI; Nia Parks of Southfield, MI; Kristia Smith, Anaudi, Akemi, Cameron and Gemini of Flint, MI and Skylar Horton of Holly, MI; 1 great-great grandson, Bry’sin Wilson of Southfield, MI; 1 sister, Mildrene (James) Rouser of Flint, MI; 2 brothers, J.D. (Edna) Chapman and Willie D. Chapman of Flint, MI; sisters in-law, Lucy White and Betty Doris Johnson of Flint, MI and Charlie Mae Smith of Mt. Morris, MI; 1 brother-in law, Frank Harper of Flint, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friends Ruthie Watts, Irma Pugh and Jennifer Alexander. Mrs. Christeen Cox was preceded in death by Husband, Mack Cox; son, Robert Moncrief; Parents, Earnest and Zeola Chapman; brothers, E.C. and Johnnie Lee Chapman; nephews, Rodney Seabron, Kielland Brandon and special friend Ozell Moncrief.
