BOWENS, Mrs. Cheryl - Age 76, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Hurley - Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Thursday, November 20, 2025, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Friends and family will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Thursday. Mrs. Bowens will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Cheryl Amerylis Bowens a.k.a. “Boomer” was born February 20, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Ruby Mae Minner and Walter Charles Minner. Cheryl was a resident of Flint, Michigan and graduated from Flint Southwestern High School. She attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in her early years. Cheryl was employed at DHS (Social Services). She was the Accountant of the family. Cheryl enjoyed shopping, sewing, reading books, crafts, making jewelry, her words were “it’s not always diamonds.” She also loved playing cards, cooking and going to Bingo and the casino. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and Cheryl was the matriarch of her family. To know her was to love her. Cheryl Amerylis Bowens leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Day Vee Bowens of Flint; son, William James (Dalisa) Bowens Jr. of Florida; grandchildren, Jonathan Bowens, Angela Bowens, Dolorean Bowens, TyrVon Love and Reginald Bowens; great-grandchildren, Jazylyn Bowens, Jada Rodgers-Reveria and Kimani Love, all of Flint; sister, Denise (John) McCoy; 2 brothers, Tyree (Gwen) Minner of Detroit, MI and Trevias Minner of California; 4 nieces, Fay Benton (Tenesse), Jonne’ (Eric) White of Grand Blanc, MI, Gina Morgan and Terrell Minner of Detroit, MI; 5 nephews, Aaron (Dionne) Minner of Grand Blanc, MI, Michael Benton of Florida, Tyree (Courtney) Minner II of Detroit, MI, Noah Minner of California and Marlon Morgan of Atlanta, GA; aunt, Lorraine Myles of Kansas City, MO; great-nieces and great-nephews, Joshua McCoy, Willie McCoy, Natasha Whiteside, Camille Minner, Ruby Wilson, Marie White and Rodrecus (Melody) Morgan; sister-in-law, Johnetta Morgan; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Deb Milling (Sis-in-Love), Lydia Parham and family, Melonie Rodriquez and family, Tony Easter, Rodrick Bracy, Nicki Williams, Ne Ne and Emo. Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Minner; father, Walter Minner; brother, Terrill Minner; sister, Brenda Benton; grandson, Myron Bowens; niece, Zorina McCoy; and her children’s father, William Bowens.
