Mr. Charlie Howard Strozier

STROZIER, Mr. Charlie Howard - Age 64, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019 at his residence. Family hour 11:00 AM Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1083 E. Stewart Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM Pastor Blake Strozier, Eulogist Pastor Chris Taylor, Presiding. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Strozier will lie in state n the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday with the family present from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. Charlie H. Strozier made his transition from labor to reward on Friday, July 5, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Charlie H. Strozier was the proud son of Ms. Bessie Johnson and Mr. Howard Strozier. Born on June 13, 1955, he was a lifelong residence of Flint, Michigan. Charlie was a graduate of Flint Northwestern High School. Charlie accepted Christ at an early age and united with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan under the leadership of Reverend Lewis Randolph. In current years, Charlie moved his membership to Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Saginaw, Michigan under the leadership of his son, Pastor Blake D. Strozier. Charlie worked 30 years at General Motors with UAW local 1292 in Grand Blanc, MI and retired from Pontiac’s Metal Fab Division in 2009. On June 12, 1982, Charlie married the love of his life, Rhoda D. Bell and the two were united for 37 years. To this union, they had 2 beloved sons, Rev. Blake D. Strozier and Jonathan C. Strozier. Charlie loved to wash his Cadillac, watch Court shows, movies and videos in his man cave, while sitting in his lazy boy. He enjoyed traveling to visit his family members throughout the country. Mr. Charlie H. Strozier leaves to cherish his memory: loving and devoted wife, Rhoda Strozier; 2 sons, Blake (Ashley) Strozier of Flint, Jonathan (fiancé, Danielle Horton) Strozier of Kalamazoo, MI.; 3 sisters, Merva Jean (Jimmy) Rouse and Barbara Ann (Albert) Thomas, both of Flint, Cynthia (David) Sanders of Harvest, Alabama; 2 brothers, Tommie (Laverne) Johnson of Flint, DeAndre (Denise) Strozier of Seattle, WA; A host of nieces and nephews; special niece, Tonya Washington of Flint; great nephew, Dondre’ Young of Flint; special cousins, Mattie James of Columbus, MS and Reggie Allen of Flint; Special In-Laws, Oscar Jenkins of Flint, John “Pete” Motley II of Flint; Mary Bell Arter of Charlotte, NC, Clyde (Robbie) Bell of Flint, Dwayne (Julie) Bell of Grayslake, IL; 3 God-Daughters, Brittany Grant of Houston, TX, India Hairston and Jasmine Hairston both of Flint; 1 God-Son, Courtney C. Hairston of Troy, MI. Mr. Strozier was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie Johnson and Howard Strozier; brother, Eugene Johnson; sister, Theresa Byers; and special uncle, Robert D. Strozier. The family would like to express special thanks to: Dr. Halim and Dr. Perum, their nurses and staff at McLaren-Flint, who cared for Charlie, as he fought a heroic battle during the time of his illnesses. The family would also like to thank the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family.
