YOUNG, Mr. Charles D. - Age 59, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, December 22, 2023 at Greater Holy Temple Church of God In Christ, 6702 N. Dort Highway, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Bishop Roger Jones, Host Pastor, Pastor Danyel Griffin, Eulogist. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 AM Friday. Mr. Young will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday, with family present to receive friends from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM. Mr. Charles D. Young was born in Flint, Michigan on May 23, 1964, the son of Carrie Mae Young and Albert Young. Charles attended Flint Central high school. Mr. Young spent most of his career working as an industrial laborer, before his position as Superintendent of Properties with RL Jones Community Outreach Center. Charles loved his job and the opportunity it afforded him to take care of the elders in his community. If you knew, “Charlie Wayne” as he was so affectionately called; you know he was always the life of the party, kept a CLEAN ride and “dressed to the nines”! Charles enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was charming and had a big heart for the people he loved. And everybody loved him! Mr. Charles D. Young leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mary Young; 4 daughters, Sha’Rayle Young, Diamond Malone, Charlene Young, all of Flint and Josephine Rush of Fort Wayne, IN; 3 sons, Onasis Malone of Flint, Charles (Thigpen) Young Jr. of Atlanta, GA and Jaquan Smith of Powder Springs, GA; grandchildren, Shakqwuiya Parrish, Karter Brown, Kingston Brown, all of Flint and Jaquan D. Malone of Powder Springs, GA, along with a host of honorary grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary (Carl) Cook of Mt. Morris, MI and Pamela Bauswell of Flint; 3 brothers, Larry (Marina) Young of Frankfurt, Germany, Darnell Young and Albert (Serena) Young, all of Flint; 2 aunts, Bernice Abston of Grand Blanc, MI and Dixie Young of Philadelphia, MS; 2 uncles, Rodney (Kathy) Harris of Flint and Bishop Henry Lee Young of Philadelphia, MS; 4 brothers-in-law, Charles Spencer, Walter Spencer, John McGinnis and Theo McGinnis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Young was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Mae Kilgore; father, Albert Young; brother, Jeffery Young; sister, Shirley Young; and niece, Rachelle Smith.
