Charles Stinnett

STINNETT, Mr. Charles - Age 70, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011. Family hour 11 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2011 at New Beginnings Ministries, G-5227 Beecher Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:30 a.m. Apostle Clarence Lewis officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Monday. Mr. Stinnett will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-6 p.m. Sunday with family present from 4-6 p.m. Mr. Charles Edgar Stinnett “Chuck” was born on October 18, 1940 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the union of Elmus and Lillian (Davis) Stinnett. “Chuck” graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Jonesboro, at the age of 15. He accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of the Genesee Valley Men of Christ, where he served as President of the Usher Board and member of the Male Chorus, Mass Choir and Praise Team. “Chuck” was a member of the New Beginnings Ministries Church and was a former member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for twenty-three years. He served his country in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged. “Chuck” retired from General Motors in 1999, after 37 years of service as a Skilled Trade’s Worker. He loved acting and entertaining and was a member of the Buckham Alley Theatre and the McCree Theatre. “Chuck” performed in many plays with his friend and cohort, Dennis Sykes, who introduced him to acting. He also wrote plays and comedy routines, taught workshops, and mentored youth in the Flint Community. “Chuck” was proud to be called “Thousand” by his only grandchild. Mr. Charles Edgar Stinnett “Chuck” leaves to cherish his memory: son, Gary L. Stinnett; daughter, Courtney T. Stinnett; 1 grandson, Kaylan J. Glass; 2 brothers, Robert (Tyrelle) Stinnett and William Rogers; 5 sisters, Deborah Agnew, Kay Rogers, Connie Hatcher, Lisa (Donald) Rogers and Barbara (Joseph) Wilkerson; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Dennis Sykes, Martha Davis, Mike Tevis, The Hornaday family and the mother of his children, Felicia (Raymund) Williams. Mr. Stinnett was preceded in death by his father, Elmus Stinnett and mothers, Lillian (Davis) Rogers and Mary Stinnett.
