Mr. Charles Cornelius Jones Sr.

JONES, Mr. Charles C., Sr. "Bo" - Age 52, passed away Sunday, December 23 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Ebenezer Ministries, 2130 S. Center. Rd., with funeral service commencing promptly at 11 a.m. Pastor Kevin Galloway officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Charles Cornelius Jones Sr. was born March 9, 1960 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Henry and Verrie Cheeks. He was a resident of Flint, Michigan, attending Flint Community Schools; graduating from Flint Southwestern Academy in 1978. In 1980 he served a short tenure in the United States Army until the summer of 1982. When Charles returned from the service he gained employment at Chuck E. Cheese as a chef, in which he was employed for over a decade, later gaining employment at his present employer Wal-Mart, in which he was employed for almost 20 years. Charles hobbies include fishing, playing lottery, and spades with family and friends, watching his favorite teams play (The San Antonio Spurs of the NBA and The Ohio State Buckeyes of College Football). Watching TV; his favorite TV shows; The Bernie Mac Show, Martin, Little House on the Prairie, Highway to Heaven, The Fresh Price of Bel-Air, The Price is Right, and Whammy. But his favorite past time of all was spending time with his family. He loved to hear a funny or tell a funny joke; he loved to laugh. Charles was very quiet, laid back and shy at first, but once you got to know him, he was a fun loving, energetic, kind hearted man, whose warmness and compassion touched everyone around him. He leaves us to cherish sweet memories: dearly beloved wife, Brenda “Fay” Jones; 12 daughters and sons, (4 biological; 8 adopted). Latasha Jones Ayers (Munjel) Valarie, Lea Tiffany, Charles Jr., Sharae, Brandon, Michael, Fantaysha, April, Taylor, Madison, Julian (The Fight) and one foster daughter Aniyah; 9 grandchildren, Tacoby, Katherine, Munjel (Jr.), Nicholas, Mun’ Taveus, Chloe (Chloe fish), Amani Desiree, Faylontae (Alogande “Moogas Johnson”), Heaven (Nuke); sister, Patricia (Bill) White; special nieces and nephews, Kevin (Monica) Galloway, Tonya Westbrook, Antoine (Tamara) Galloway, Ramona (Joseph) Moye, James (Katrina) Moore, Tyvon Love, Henry Cheeks Jr., Jamel Cheeks and Delmar Cheeks; aunt, Betty Banks; cousins, Alma Sims, Renee Williams, Barbara Sims, Martha Sims and Calvin Sims; and a host of other special cousins; brother-in-law, Clyde (Julie) Earnest, Jerome Earnest, Larry Earnest, Johnny Earnest and Dwight Earnest; sister-in-law, Bobbie Alexander (James); nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends; Diana Newell, Rubyo Bloodworth, Lonnie Stubbs, Dre Johnson, Kesha Horton, Sharon Sullivan,Vincent Norris and Marty Gullette. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Milton Jones; brother, Henry Cheeks Jr.; Lettie M. Love (Jones); mother-in-law, Minister Katherine Earnest; sister-in-law, Tammie Earnest; brother-in-law, Carlton Earnest; sister-in-law, Betty Reed; brother-in-law, L.S Reed; brother-in-law, Jesse Re. Earnest Jr. The family would like to express extreme gratitude and special thanks to the physicians and nursing staff at Hurley Medical Center that were involved with the care of Mr. Jones.
