Mrs. Cecilia Mastin

MASTIN, Mrs. Cecilia - Age 79, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 at her residence. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Mastin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Cecilia Ann (Strong) Mastin was born August 22, 1933 in Fayetteville, Tennessee, the daughter of Mary Lou and John Strong. Cecilia was a longtime resident of Flint. She was a member of Christ the Rock Apostolic Church where District Elder Wilbur Reed, Jr., is Pastor. Cecilia enjoyed traveling, watching television and spending time with her family especially her great-grandchildren. She was known to be adventurous and fun loving. Cecilia remained a strong and feisty lady until the end. Mrs. Cecilia Mastin leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Minnie Mastin; 2 sons, Clarence Mastin and Ronnie (Ida) Mastin, all of Flint; 9 grandchildren, Latasha (Terrence) Johnson of Flint, Clarice Mastin of Davison, MI, Ronnie Mastin, Jr. and Daniel (Takisha) Mastin of Ypsilanti Twp. MI, Ryan (Camille) Mastin of Chicago, IL, Samuel (Crystal) Mastin of Flint, David (Lorna) Mastin of Detroit, MI, Clarence Mastin, Jr., Chelese Mastin of Atlanta, GA; 9 great granddaughters; 6 great grandsons; many nieces including Dee Dee Allen, Beatrice Black and Edna Conley, all of Fayetteville, TN, Deborah and Veronica Mastin, both of Flint, Donna (Earl) Hampton of Montrose, MI; many nephews including, Gary Lee, Ray Thomas, Anthony, David James, Dwight, Henry Lee, Toby, Squeaksie and Byron Strong, all of Fayetteville, TN, John Thomas Strong, Jr. of Montgomery, AL, John Louis Strong of Winchester, TN; many cousins, including special cousin, Ree Ellis of Dayton, OH, the Strong, Fowler, Mastin, and Kimbrough families of Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan, Alabama, and California; sisters-in-law, Cleta Strong of Fayetteville, TN, Carrie Ann Strong of Madison, AL, Rachel Strong of Nashville, TN, Clara Mastin of Flint; 6 sisters-in-law of Fayetteville, TN; brother-in-law, Otha (Mildred) Mastin of Canton, OH; a host of other relatives and friends including the residents of Court Street Village Apartments; special second family, William and Larry Mallon, Bonnie Rosenthal and their mom, Judy of Florida and Michigan. Mrs. Mastin was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Mastin Jr; parents, Mary Lou and John Strong; brothers, John Thomas, Louis Thomas and Willie James Strong; grandmother, Daisy Bell Strong; aunt, Lizzie Mae Robinson; nieces, Barbara Jones and Vickie Balknight; cousin, Louann Kimbrough; friend, Birdie Thomas and nephew, Melvin Mastin. The family would like to express special thanks to Avalon Hospice and its staff including Heidi, Pam, and Pyonca; granddaughter, Latasha Johnson, RN, Senior Companion, Jackie; District Elder Wilbert Reed, Jr. and the Christ the Rock Apostolic Church family. The Mallon family and many others who have shown their care and concern for Cecilia and her family during this time.
